  1. Hi Harry, and welcome An alternative is to find a piece of webbing strap, like a halter is made of, or a back pack strap. Cut it across the piece and tease the thread out that is running across the strap. You will finish up with hundreds of trailing ends. Just unravel the amount you need and leave around 25mm unraveled to hold the lot together. HTH
  2. Hi Northland Chic, Welcome to the NZ Fishroom Big selection of fish you have there. Seemed to have gained a few members from Northland just lately, but no matter where we all live, we all have the same interests here he he.
  3. Welcome Meggy Good to see you getting to know everyone. Sounds like the old addiction has 'really' got a hold of you this time. he he. Never mind... you can always visit the 'surgery' (here) if the addiction gets too bad and we can recommend more fish... or more tanks :)\
  4. Good to see you put the extra strips across Be nice to see if filled and the fish back in again.
  5. Whoa... Posted same time as me he he. Must have missed your arrival Ash (Been off line for a while) Warm welcome to you, and hope you find lots of interest here.
  6. :) Ha Ha... The Invasion of the Northlanders Hi there Myst, great to see you here, and thank your husband for steering you in our direction. As above brilliant site, lotsa fun and interest, and lots of info and helpful members. How many tanks do you have... (Guppys just love two things... Eating and Breeding) :)
  7. Real bad news Sheila, and just lucky that you were in at the time with Dad to help. Looking at the size I would think you needed at 'least' five or six braces from front to back for a tank that big. Must have been a helluva pressure on that brace for it to break in that manner. May have been just a sight chip on the front anti bowing strip, as it doesn't take much if there's a chip there to start things off, especially with that weight, but the guy will find the cause hopefully on Monday. Glad you saved the fish and remembered to unplug the heater

    Sad News

Or he/she could be gleefully counting the extra cash under his/her bed each night Not cheap fish, and they could have had an offer they couldn't refuse Either way... It's a shame about the fish, but if it 'did' get out, he/she has only themselves to blame, but then I suppose we all make mistakes in times of haste, which may have been the case.
  9. Don't know about Daphnia with Chicken feces, as it is highly alkaine and high in ammonia, but I copied this from a site I was recently at... 8239 Enterprise Dr • Newark, California 94560Telephone: (510)792-7200 Fax: (510)792-5360Website: www.SFBB.com E-Mail: [email protected]
  10. Looking forward to reading the progress over the coming weeks, and hoping he will post some pics... then I'll post the link once it's confirmed.
  11. Just been reading a post about a hobbyist that has spawned the RTBS after three or four years trying. Has 60 to 70 fry swimming around at the moment. I thought that these hadn't been spawned in captivity ..?
  12. Hi Sucky fish, Welcome to the NZ Fishroom. Plecos or Bristlenose,.... they are all great fish and truly comical characters at time.. and don't they do a great job around the tank he he. Now we must change that "lonely guppy" situation. :)
  13. Betta's 'R' us. com is a good site bikegirl. Shows you how to pick the right colours to get certain results and such. Other than that, just typing "Betta" into your browser will give you heaps of sites.

Must be the dialup... Took 2.5 mins tonight. Phoned Paradise and they said they had server probs. Nice pic Aqua. Not sure about it being an Amazon Sword though as the leaves start a lot nearer the base as here. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/320+B6JnVzZXJfc ... WI_.0.html

  20. Hi there Rob (2) as we have one already. Glad you decided to show yourself and welcome to the Fishroom. Nice group of fish you have, and lots here keep the same types so there's heaps of info Sunday is a little quite, but the guys will be along shortly to get you welcomed.
  21. So it is he he... but might be worth the diversion :)
  22. Boronia Aquarium apparently has 200 tanks... could be worth a look.
  23. Nice pics Andrew. These must be the High Fins you were working on. Great colour, and a few look ready to spawn.
  24. Hi Sue, You can do a 'partial' cleanup by pushing a siphon tube down the riser pipe and siphoning some of the rubbish off. The finger from a rubber glove with a hole in the tip will seal the pipe, then slip the rubber over the riser and suck... (QUICKLY he he) YUKKKK... you were toooo slow :) Now for the other three risers... Oh dear...
  25. Thanks again. Have updated the site with the names :) http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/grumpy ... arines.htm
