    Daphnia?

Well I forgot about you Ashriel and bikie didn't remind me either  I took 3 lots of daphina and auctioned them at the show.
  2. I am working on resizing and cropping photos kim. Don't think anyone would appreciate me posting 3.8Mb pics in here
  3. My fish all made it safely up there but I auctioned them off so didn't have to bring them home again. GREAT WEEKEND!!!! Good to meet bikiegirl, christine, Al, midas, severus, scarlet, kim and wok (to name a few I can remember off the top of my head and still half asleep). I had already met Ira, Alan, TC and goldie. Our club gained another 3 members from the weekend too so it was well worth the effort. We stopped at Wet Pets on the way home and talked to Peter. He said he now wished he had entered some fish and would do so next time. Several people said that actually. Great effort Hawkes Bay club. The Seahorse Farm was so impressed they want us to do it again next year!! I have just said goodbye to our club's Canterbury contingent as they head home with their purchases. I will post some pics as soon as I have them resized, cropped etc.

Good to see you got your own name in here Tommi. Hope all the fish survived the trip. We got home safely and the ChCh/Ashburton lot have just left for home. TC's discus is still alive but goldie lost 4 pristellas - due, she thinks, to poor handling by the shop assistant who had trouble catching them. We found another African made a leap for freedom while we were away so priority now is that 6ft tank with a close fitting lid!!!
  5. Welcome ropata and thanks for finally speaking up!
  6. CT is The Community Tank, another forum like this one. It is USA based but, like us, has members worldwide.
  7. You found us again Steve! Welcome back!! There's a little more going on in here than in CT at the moment.
  8. No problems Jude. They are often called poor man's neons (same size, if a bit bigger) but they are pretty enough in their own right. I have kept them in both cold and tropical. 25 - 26 is fine. They do not eat plants.

Sorry funky but our club does not have visa facilities. We do take direct credit though (and cash, cheques)

    Great forum

Welcome to the fishroom bobG. We are getting to be quite international

    blue starfish

You can find them in all sorts of places

    blue starfish

You mean one of these ones?
  13. Livebearer_breeder that was uncalled for. The aim of this forum is for everyone to offer an opinion, regardless of whether it is the same, or otherwise, to those already given. We each have our own experiences to share.
  14. Check out farm supply stores - small stock troughs or plastics manufacturers like Indac (sp?)

Hiya funky and welcome. I doubt it matters which day you go. Keep an eye out for me, I would love to talk with you. I will be in the group wearing royal blue shirts with a fluorescent orange smiling fish and "Marlborough Aquarium Club" written on both sides I love putting faces to names. Keep asking for Caryl - many there will be able to point me out  I will be there both days I should think. As for a club, if there is none in nearby you might consider starting one or you can join one from elsewhere. My own club has members from Whangarei in the north to Timaru in the south - plus one member in the USA. We email out a full colour monthly newsletter (or post if required) plus you would also get the Aquarium World magazine 4 times per year for free. Our subs are $20 family, $15 senior or $10 junior (school student). As said, Hawkes Bay and Hamilton would be closest to you, as well as Palmerston North.
  16. Mine would cling to the glass but also were found at the top too. If you shine a torch straight down on them their eyes reflect the light and they are easier to see.
  17. Bruce and Julie from the HBAS are opening up a shop. It is possibly theirs.
  18. Go with Jude Inter  We are picking up severus and partner now so it might be better if you get picked up by Jude & Ian since she lives near you.
  19. WCMM are very easy to breed but you won't make much money out of them. Most of our members give them away. They can be set up in tropical or cold tanks.
  20. Boy you can go off some people! Great pics as usual pies. I have always said temperature wasn't so important when doing water changes (in tropical tanks anyway, I know nothing about marines) as you look at goldfish in a pond...they lie in the sun on the surface until something frightens them and they dive down deep. You all know there is a big temperature difference between the surface and the bottom of the pond, more so the deeper they are. I know one fishkeeper who has bred many fish over the years always does his tropical tank water changes with cold water only and he changes 50% at a time. When I bought my Africans the breeder said he did the same and refilled them straight from the garden hose (lucky us who have no chlorine added). I have done it here and the fish play in the current of cold water.
  21. Thanks for that Alan, I have emailed him. Otherwise, later today the offer will be cancelled.
  22. It seems we may now have 2 beds in that unit. Do we have 2 people needing a bed?
  23. Unfortunately it might already be too late Ira and she is not well enough to travel
  24. I have converted the entry form into a Word document you could email if that helps. Ring their club secretary and complain!
  25. We have had one of our members diagnosed with cancer and will be in hospital instead of travelling to Napier with us. This means we have a bed to spare at Kennedy Park. If we could find someone to fill it it would mean our sick member would get her accommodation refunded. Female preferred please as you will be sharing a room (single beds) with another female. $26.25 per night. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights available. Take 1, 2 or 3 any of those options would help. PM me if you can help. Thanks
