  1. It seems we may now have 2 beds in that unit. Do we have 2 people needing a bed?
  2. Unfortunately it might already be too late Ira and she is not well enough to travel
  3. I have converted the entry form into a Word document you could email if that helps. Ring their club secretary and complain!
  4. We have had one of our members diagnosed with cancer and will be in hospital instead of travelling to Napier with us. This means we have a bed to spare at Kennedy Park. If we could find someone to fill it it would mean our sick member would get her accommodation refunded. Female preferred please as you will be sharing a room (single beds) with another female. $26.25 per night. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights available. Take 1, 2 or 3 any of those options would help. PM me if you can help. Thanks
  5. When? We have 2 carloads coming off the 1pm ferry on Friday. We have 2 stationwagons with 4 in each but our Odyssey seats 6 - 7.

    Nice to be aboard

Hi there Luke and welcome to the fishroom.
  7. The entry form was a download from this site at one point (haven't looked to see if it still is) and entry forms were sent to all club secretaries for you to get a copy. Entries have to be in by Wednesday 22nd.

Hi greenboy and welcome. As well as joining us in the chat room you might consider joining your local fish club. A great place to learn.
  9. There is both a Show, where the fish are judged, and an Expo, where the fish are just for viewing.
  10. I knew you could get salmonella from turtles and TB from having open cuts in an infected aquarium. Every time I suck on the hose I think I shouldn't  You can actually start them without sucking. Put your thumb over the hose end then carefully submerge the wide end in the tank and tip it until the length of the hose and siphon is full of water, then remove your thumb from the hose end. The suction should start on its own.
  11. I wonder if he means the "electric blue haps"?
  12. We can breed guppies outside in a pond over summer no trouble at all. Quite a number of barbs also go well outside - but manydo not survive during the winter. It depends what part of the country you live in too as it stays a lot warmer up north than it does down here!
  13. white worms are easily grow in ice cream containers (and it is fun eating the ice cream first). Daphnia is another easy live food to grow in a half mussel float or old bath in the garden somewhere.

They can be vicious - especially if you get between a mum and her pup. They stink too  We have trouble with them coming ashore along the Kaikoura Coast. They like to lie in the middle of the main highway as the tarseal is warm
  15. What gets me is the number of members who have criticised the executive over the years for not organising a Show and when we do - where are they? I bet my entries are better than your entries
  16. You have shops selling leopardfish as guppies?? I do hope you pointed out to them the error of their name?
  17. None of the options fits as far as I am concerned. Cold water guppies are a misconception. Guppies can tolerate cooler temperatures than a lot of other tropicals but that does not make them cold water fish. In a well insulated and warm house they may be kept without a heater but the water will be about 18C which is not cold.
  18. Hi Jackie and welcome from the other side of the world.

  20. That little bitty bit of rock cost $500?? Would help if he said what size the tank was.
  21. I am considering a sump for my 6ft so would be interested in replies too. Particularly I need to know where to drill (and what size) the holes for the pipework as I would like to have it all not coming over the top of the tank necessitating gaps to be cut in the lid.
  22. A letter to MAF from the FNZAS would be an excellent idea Warren

    Urgent Help

My book suggests Camallanus worms (when the fish remains stationary red or brown worms hang about 5 - 10mm out of the anus which is dilated). Treatment: Methylene Blue: 1ml stock solution to 1 litre water. Remove any carbon from the filters first.

    no pump

My first thought was ... what is the pump attached to? This makes a difference to the answer
