It's a free standing wood burner. They are tiled on the sides aren't they so most heat comes out the front? Try putting a thick sheet of polystyrene on the end nearest the fire. Our free standing wood burner didn't bother the tanks beside it.

In the heat of summer you shouldn't need to srart with a heater if your room temp sits at aound 25+C. It is the night time temps you have to be careful with. "Coldwater" in this instance means about 18C.

Speaking of jetties...Grant suggested we build a small one to scale and get a radio controlled boat. He then thought we could build a mini salmon farm and whenever we wanted a bit of excitement we could go and cut the ropes and let it float free. He could then get some radio controlled tugs to push it back in place. :lol: His next suggestion was to build a model railway track around it :roll: WTM: that was cruel to tease your turtle like that 8) The decking will overhang at both ends. No further progress as they have been on another job this week while the concrete cures.

They need to be submerged to work. I have my noodles in the bottom with the sponge sitting on top.

With that depth I would have an external canister plus be inclined to add an undergravel filter as well to get circulation right through the tank. You will need to add an extension to the canister uplift as you want the tube as low as possible.

How long has the tank been cycled? Bristlenoses need a reasonably mature tank so they have something to graze on. The cherries would still be happier in a group and look better. One or 2 don't show their colours like a big group of them. I wouldn't be adding any more to your list either.

Having looked through my fancy aquarium plant handbook, I think it looks more like Echinodorus argentinensis because of the leaf shape but I am no plant expert. A lot of the E. sp are hybrids anyway.

I too like the AquaClears. I have the sponge and Siporax noodles in mine.
