  1. I'd like some input on stocking. So far I'm thinking: 7 lampeye tetra 6 panda cories 2 bristlenose 1 red whiptail 2 apistogramma. Id be interested in some small south American oddballs. But of course keeping stocking levels down. What are my options ?
  2. Africans. I'm going for South American biotope. I knows it's not strictly accurate, but at least the fish can all be South American.
  3. My feeling is agassizi are a bit smaller than cacatuoides. I want something that will be the focal point of the tank, rather than something that will look small compared to the tetra in there.
  4. Not entirely sure. I'd like something Red/Orange. I'm considering a cacatuoides... But open to suggestions.
  5. Thanks, I will be adding a plant once it arrives in the mail. Its a pond plant and I'm not sure if it will survive. Potamogeton cheesemanii to be exact.
  6. I've added some sticks which I think helps the look. Hopefully this week I should get some more Panda corys. I've uploaded a video because I think it shows more than a few photos. Photos will come too soon. Unfortunately the cories got some whitespot (pretty sure it's not sand) so I am dosing at the moment. Anyway, Here is the video:
  7. Interesting. Unfortunately the 5 fish they have here are dull and only 1 looks like in your photo liam.
  8. http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/sa ... splendens/ At my LFS they had some mystery fish come in under Rummy Noses - which they clearly aren't. 1 has coloured up a little and looks like one of these guys/"Burmese Rammy Nose". Are they common? I have never seen them before.
  9. Original Link if anyone is interested. The comments on here might be a little more thought out and more entertaining than the other site. ...thriving in filthy water. Far too many people mistake murky and tannin rich for dirty... http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/1 ... ting_beta/
  10. I have a branch which I'm going to use, and it still has some leaves attached, if they're safe to use I may as well use them. Does anyone know?
  11. Going for a blackwater, I'll see what I can do with some cloth I guess.
  12. I'm considering how to darken my tank, and since I have some black spray paint laying around, it could be used. The light is a juwel korall light, and doesn't get as hot as other fluorescents that I have used. So how safe would it be?
  13. Good to know, Thanks for the help. I'm dreading setting it up again in a few weeks after my move to Dunedin...
  14. I may have just attached the hoses the wrong way around... Will update and probably delete thread out of shame
  15. I just replaced the ceramic shaft which was broken, which has somewhat helped, however.... I have filled the whole thing with water and it is siphoning fine from a bucket, but when I plug in the filter, it makes its noise, and stops pumping. I know these filters are annoyingly tricky to get working and I have tried finding a solution, but its hard to sift through all the information out there...
  16. I received a 30cm Carapo knifefish in the mail once and it was fine. Risk should always be carried by the recipient I reckon. I also second not using an oxygen shell.
  17. Viel Glück in Deutschland! Es war schon Jahre seit ich letzt da war.
  18. Probably true. @ Joe My opinion is: It is entirely up to you whether you want FB or not. In terms of privacy, it depends on what you want. Its a social media site, its sole purpose is to share. And if you want total anonymity the internet isn't for you. Unless you create alias' and run behind multiple proxies. A more real concern with PMs being not private is your friends telling others. This will happen more often than anything else. If the article I posted above worries you, you can always create a secondary email just for FB - like I have. It is a pretty user friendly place and I have never had any problems with it. All I use it for these days is keeping in touch with friends back home - once every few weeks - and keeping up to date with whats happening here at uni. If you want funny pictures and memes I suggest other sites. (the memes on FB are just awful and always used incorrectly anyway)
  19. However: This. http://www.dailydot.com/news/facebook-n ... 5-dollars/
  20. Just scrolled back to 1995 on my FB (as far as it goes back) and found no posts of my private messages anywhere. These PMs are private. I image a multi-billion dollar company would not risk 'accidentally' posting private messages in public without at least fixing it. Of course someone, somewhere has access to reading these. Same goes for text messages, e-mails, PMs. Its part of life. You have to put some thought into what you're saying. But in the end, I doubt the person reading it will really care.
  21. Some may of this already, but it may interest others: http://www.sci-news.com/biology/article00670.html
