  1. +3 I have co2 runnign 24/7 with discuss no issues at all.
  2. your opinion is both welcomed and valued. I haven't really thought of any new fish recently. Currently there are 2 discus, about 6cm and 8cm, 1 electric blue ram (the other died recntly ) 2 large bristlenoses, and 12-13 cardinals. Hatchets do look pretty cool though... In an out of proportion kinda way.
  3. Thanks p44. Ill look into it in the new year I assume somewhere like HFF would ahve it? I'll give em a call on the 3rd and find out anyhow. Cheers. As far as the sword goes, I don't know, Ill prune off some of the larger leaves, and see how it goes. if I have to prune 3-4 leaves every 3 months (current growth rate) ill be happy.
  4. NO really? Can't I just prune the bloody thing?
  5. I have mine on a 130l for the moment. I got sick of DIY co2, and had $100 of animates vouchers to use up, and nothing I wanted to buy from animates. I will eventually switch it to my 37l and go for a pro c02 for the next tank I upgrade too. Saving for a 6fter as we speak. I installed it after lunch today, and I have lovely pearls on all my plants at the moment, at around 1 bubble every 2 seconds. The diffuser is a bit rubbish, but I have a decent one around here somewhere that I will probably swap out later.
  6. Hey all, i have this plant, and it's getting too big. It has shot off a couple of runners with new plants which I have trimmed one off and added to another tank But I need to do something soon about the massive leaves that are going to stop my light getting to the other plants. Any help/tips on how to prune this, and does anyone want some cuttings/babies? Oh and p44, any suggestions as to what plant I can replace the repens with, its looking a bit tatty, and doesnt really suit my green theme PICS: Oh and to the left is the java fern I have for sale. Tank is a AR620t for size comparison.
  7. Bought one today and set up. Used my animates vouchers i got for xmas, so only cost me $100. Stocked as.
  8. I have some Amazon Sword you can have. I also have some Java Fern, and some Ludwigia Repens. You will need some good light to make the repens go red though.
  9. I'm in the process of designing a steel stand for a 4 ft tank. Upshot for me is that i can weld it myself. and have access to A LOT of specialised machinery at work if I get stuck. So far i have decided on the rough design, i just lack the time to start the cutting patterns. I plan to use 25mm box section and 25mm angle. around 2.5-3mm thick. I will gusset every corner. 1/3d of the way up the stand will be a " H " reinforcement for a shelf, and added strength. This will be my fist tank stand, and I might re-evaluate the design after it's tacked, or add some more reinforcements if it feels week. At worst i will need to add in 2 vertical legs top to bottom in the middle for added strength. But I reckon my current design is more than enough. Cost of steel so far is under $200. Add $100 for powder coating in satin black (might por 15 it for a lot less, depends on the bank manager and what she says... and I should have a complete stand inc wood and poly for around $400, plus beer.
  10. Pic (best I could do with out releasing him/her.
  11. I have had these 2 rams for about 4 -5 months. No issues with either until now. I fed them last night, and noticed one of them has a swollen belly, that has turned white. it was sitting near the bottom, and seemed to be breathing/gasping on the bottom of the tank ( i didnt see if he ate any blood worms). I did a brief google search that returned no decent responses, and hoped it was just a case of overeating. I just got home and checked the tank, and noticed that the same fish was stuck on the filter intake. Fearing the worst I pulled it out, and realised it is still alive. The belly is still heavily swollen, seems to be unable to swim with any strength, and seems to just sit against things. I have him in a net at present, any ideas what it could be? Constipation, should i try a shelled pea? the other ram in the tank is fine, the discus in the tank seem fine, and the cardinals are fine too. so only this fish seems affected. Does anyone have any ideas? Do you need more info?
  12. If you ever decide to sell it let me know. That would be perfect for me, and I can't find any anywhere.
  13. No warranty on the tank? Aquaone has a 2 year warranty on their tanks don't they? I have the same tank
  14. Yeah lol. I just jammed it in the end of the strainer, and let it be. I have ran it for 4 months or so, and so far so good. I don;t know if it is/can do any damage to the pump. But like I said. It seems not to care. Only negative is when the mixture is fresh the "air in canister" sound is pretty bad. It doesn't bother me, as my pc is louder. but yeah, a normal person would probably get annoyed if it is right next to them for any length of time over the first 24-48 hours of the mixture..
  15. I have 2 set up, one i use a diffuser off ebay with, the other I plumbed it directly into my canister intake. No issues so far, and all my plants pearl...
  16. Glowlights are on special at animates soon.
  17. I'd look at 5 or so Cardinal tetras. and maybe a bristlenose. Beware, the BN will get large. My male is currently 10cm ish (maybe larger) which is way too big for that tank.
  18. Brennos

    Leeches

I want some too. I love weird creatures.
  19. if you can be bothered catching any, I can take as many as you can catch off your hands . My puffers would be grateful too.
  20. I'm thinking abut a nano now. maybe 90-120l? enough for a couple of clowns and fire shrimp.
  21. Awesome. Whats your cost at so far?
  22. Mine does this too. I use tweezers, and blood worms. He gets some of them. I just thought he was dim.
