Oh no! Since my last update kitty has left marks on one set of curtains, knocked over everything that isn't bolted down, chewed every exposed cord, fallen in the water bowl, upset my dog by chewing his tail and sleeping on top of him, randomly attacking his head if he moves during the night, and she loves nothing more than a good play at 2am. :nilly:
But it's amazing what a week can do, no more wild kitten hissing!
I found albino guppy fry number 9! :happy1:
Found 8 albino guppy fry in my tank. :happy1:
And on the subject of babies little stray kitty has changed so much already in three days. She's decided she loves one of my dogs old toys, and has found her safe place in a basket.
I'm not really a big fan of kittens but there's something about her that turns my brain to complete mush.
It was hissing at me, but it's so tiny it was just kinda cute. Aww, pretend mean kitty.
Caught my dog licking his lips and staring at her before but it's ok, because kitty ran across the room and i've never seen him so scared of anything. :sml1:
Managed to catch the last of the three stray kittens that have been living behind work. Just gotta get mum now and get her fixed. This is her 5th litter apparently.
Organising a trip to the vet for wee hissing bitey kitty but they're all really healthy looking. Had a great old time trying to catch fast wild kittens that had got in to a shop full of expensive breakable things. The weather was bad last night so they'd crawled through a tiny window to the shop that was left open out the back of work.
Aaaand my albino guppies all look super pregnant so i'm crossing my fingers for fry this week!
Bought another Jebo R338, picked up today, got some more albino guppies, and some cute fancy ones for another tank, set up tanks and admired fish. Good end to a looooong week at work. :happy2:
If you check out his feedback he seems to have sold a few adult males. Never seen him with females for sale. I was tempted to buy one of the auctions for 30 eggs, but then I figured if by some chance most of them hatched I live in Cambridge now and i'm not confident enough to ship fish so it could just go bad and i'll end up with heaps of fish and need to find space for more tanks . But then maybe having no experience with killfish they may not hatch at all.
Ugh, I kept a pair for awhile. They are such beautiful fish. They laid eggs three times and hatched them once, lost them all after a powercut.
The female died a few months later, and the male a few months after that. I loved them dearly but was so gutted i've only admired them in fish shops since. There seems to be a lot of threads about them dying so easily.
I cook for a living and I feel so hopeless when I watch that show.
They're so adorable though, I love the little ginger girl who looks like a cabbage patch doll. I want to be her when I grow up.
Got some ladies for my albino guppy. :happy2:
Downsizing was never going to work.
Finished putting together a stand for a three foot the other day, now it's filled with molly and platy fry. Leopard fish are super cute and happy, guppies are chasing each other, and I feel like i've spent enough time and money on fish this week to keep me happy until new fry come along.
I'm guessing that's Ruatiti Road. Growing up in Raetihi we used to drive that road to the domain all the time to go swimming in summer and I used to always look down at the drop. Gives me shivers thinking about it now.
Glad to hear you're ok! Those are some impressive photos!
Bought a 3 foot grow out tank for the mollies and platies. Ooops. Late night flu brain trademe browsing. Now I just need to clean out the garden shed...
Making myself sad browsing the fish section on Trademe and seeing what's available outside the Waikato region. Oh dear.
After a year of downsized fishkeeping due to lack of time it's time to plan another little low maintenance breeding project I think.
:sml1:
Plan for the future, build a bigger shed!
I hope she wasn't a fishkeeper also. Breaking up with someone who also keeps fish is a logistical nightmare and moving fish and tanks to two places 300ks apart is the least fun i've ever had ha ha. :slfg:
I just made an amazing lunch-dinner (is it too late for lunch or too early for dinner??) with grilled zucchini and eggplant and it was the best! I am now obsessed and planning eggplant based meals for the week involving everything ripe in my garden, which means a whole lot of beetroot, tomatoes, more zucchini, and so many salad greens. Yum!
:happy2:
I went to Te Koutu lake in Cambridge to walk my dog like I usually do. Saw 3 perch and heaps of gambusia that I watched for a while like a little fish geek. Then it rained so I was forced to come home.
I haven't got any to give you, but it could be one of those things that comes in every so often. I work for a company that supplies the supermarkets with their plants and flowers so will keep an eye out incase it comes up on the list, I believe most of the supermarkets get the same things. It's kinda cool looking so i'd definitely order it!
