Obviously i'm not going to stop now i've got fry that look somewhat like what I want. Hence the confusion and previous comment. I have something in mind and don't expect to achieve anything much anytime soon.
Obviously you have to start with the best available fish to be able to create anything reasonably spectacular. Hence I haven't gone and bought average or just because fish. Everything has a feature that appeals. And having invested all that time, effort and money in them obviously it makes sense to breed them and get what I want out of them, not have a whole bunch of fish that I can sell for $30 each on auction sites. I'd rather keep my numbers down, and several generations down the track have something close to what I have in my head, or at the very least fish with improved fins and colour.
Thanks Josh, I think I may have seen the article you are referring to. I've spent way to much time trawling the internet researching everything I can.
That's because i'm elite ha ha ha!
Actually it's because I have a thing for crowntails and I want to try and improve the fins on the ones we get here. It's looking promising atm. My babies have nicely formed fins right now so i'm crossing my fingers.
We're not taking the ute to move Josh . We'll have a truck or massive trailer. I cannot imagine moving a bed, bedroom furniture, couches, tables, chairs, bbq, fishtanks, pots, pans, linen, my whole wardrobe and whatever else in a ute.
Sorry about your fish. I wouldn't take it personally, blue rams are stupidly hard to keep for no apparent reason. I lost my female like you described after she happily spawned twice, the male a few months later for no reason, no gasping or signs of illness. Broken heart?
It's just one of those things sadly. :-?
