then please can you buy him so I can stop wanting him? :slfg:
  2. you are doing very well, your dog just had a good feed :slfg: I don't know whether you'd call it light or UV or both. There is light that gets through thick net curtains, and through the frosted glass pane of the door. The tanks are well back from where you can see the lighted area hits the carpet but it's obviously still enough to get the algae going. I also note that these tanks have their lights on for about 2-3 hours a day only, from around 5pm, and they have 6500k bulbs. The other tank I have that doesn't get that algae has a 6500k bulb and a 14000k bulb and is in the same area but doesn't have a pane facing the light so much.

I didn't study him hard enough to know about the colour on his fins, just recognised it as being same as yours. If I bought the fish it would go in the CPD tank since that is evolving into something else now that there are only 7 or 8 fish left in there.
  5. believe me it is the same algae that I have. My tanks are also not in direct sunlight but the room is well-lit. The filter sponge gets quite muddy too, like it's full of silt and I have to rinse and squeeze it out every 4-6 weeks. I don't get it inside tubes or on the underside of leaves, only on the outside of leaves where the light arrives.

  7. My choice for 1: neither - go for a walk and spend the money on chocolate to give you a reason to go for the walk in the first place reason: eating chocolate is far more enjoyable than sitting on your butt playing games
  8. That brown slimey algae is the same that I get in my rasbora tank and it's sitting in a well lit room near a glass doorway letting in more light. The only thing that knocks it back is a 3 day blackout, then it's very easy to wipe off, and that stunts it for a few days so you can clean it up, vacuum up the flakes and have a nice looking tank till it grows back. On my rasbora tank I've blacked out the pane that is closest to the sunlight and it hasn't grown back much, it's very much slower. Now I find that it's trying to grow in my riverbed tank and there isn't much I can do apart from move the tank as the biggest pane is the viewing pane and that's the one that faces the sunlight.
