  1. Join Auckland Fishkeepers and then you can say you helped the phoenix rise from the ashes . Apparently we are going to have some online meetings even :bggrn:
  2. That's great. I hope this means you'll come back to Auckland soon to see us and eat chips.
  3. I know, it's funny isn't it. He isn't even the biggest fish either. :lar: You'll see more if I make a movie so I'll do that later when the lights are on and post over the weekend.
  4. I owe this thread an update. Currently there many CPD fry, 1 mosquito rasbora and 5 ember tetra. Funnily enough, the boss of the tank is the mosquito rasbora, he zips around at dinner time stealing as much as can fit in his tiny stomach. Fortunately he is grossly outnumbered by everyone else so his antics don't upset anyone. The CPD fry are all just about big enough to see spots, and a few are almost fully grown.
  5. 2 eggs got fungus and they laid 9 more this afternoon while I was milling around. Soon I will have to put them back in the main tank or there will be more fry to raise than I have room for. The male fusses over the eggs like he's trying to eat them. He snuffles and worries over them. Is he just inspecting or is he trying to eat them?
  6. go coldwater and you could lose the heater the plants will still live
  7. don't think I've ever seen a black fighter :nfs:
  8. Found 6 more cory eggs tonight, moved them straight to the breeding box - managed to stick them to the side so I can watch them. I had put a plastic plant in there for them to be laid on, they laid them on the glass and tank bottom again. The plant felt all slimey, not sure if that's a good thing or not so I've removed it and left it to soak in water.
  9. is he interested in food?
  10. :spop: 1 feature fish with gusto would be good there. Robust enough for it to come and see who is looking in the tank, big enough to be spotted from a distance while passing. Little fish will probably dart away whenever someone comes near in a hallway, or hide in the plants so you have to stop to find them.
  11. I bought a second hand juwel last year and use the sponges it came with. I don't even use the white bit that sits on the top.
  12. Cory fry are in a breeding box and getting fed various minifish food, microworms and crushed up novo tabs. There seems to be 5, maybe 6.
  13. thanks there was no notice on here ?? :dunno:
  14. My crystal ball is at the drycleaners so I didn't know the meeting was today. Please can you post me my membership card? :fshi:
  15. The fry will be able to eat pretty soon, if not already
  16. Twisted val grows a few leaves thick per plant and then it puts out runners with new plantlets attached. The oldest ones are in the middle and they get longer and longer until they go brown or start looking grubby and you can trim out the leaf. Eventually you'll end up with a mass of waving leaves if you let the plantlets do their thing.
  17. interesting, I like it what happened to your blue ram?
