  1. Such an amazing tank, beautiful fish, love the Arowana.
  2. Got my tank! Looks excellent Picked up a 300W Heater, was going to get the 200W but 300W was only around $4 more. Seemed worth it. Got a new sponge for the sponge filter, which I have now set up in my community tank to run for a few weeks.
  3. Seems my sponge filter had been dosed with some Malachite green sometime in the past, probably used in a treatment tank. So ill need to buy another one!
  4. Thanks David, should i have it turned on or is just having the sponge in there enough?
  5. Any suggestions for cycling the sponge filter? Its new and unused. I am going to put 50% water from my main community tank into the new tank, then rest tap water, and maybe a heavy hit with cycle? Maybe a bit of fish food to get some ammonia to start cycling?
  6. Feeding blocks worked for us when we went away for a few weeks. However i would only use them as an absolute last resort.
  7. The pair that we have at the moment are blue cobalt. They are still youngish, around 14 months old give or take. And they have only had a few attempts so far, but i have faith! Here is the thread with them breeding http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=53469
  8. Getting excited! Picking up my 29 Gallon breeding tank tomorrow Got the tank made by Greg. (thanks!) Going shopping tomorrow for a 200L heater. Probably get a Jager. I have a large sponge filter ready and waiting. Breeding cone on the way from Hollywoodfishfarm This is what i'm going to use as a stand. Will sit directly opposite my community tank. Im going to use 50% water from my community tank when i do a water change tomorrow, and the rest from the tap. Will leave it for a while to cycle. Will put more pics up as they come
  9. Yea i haven't had this problem before because all my previous apartments where warm as toast! Happy that the heaters are not at fault. Im setting up a new 110L tank, so ill probably get a 200L Heater for that.
  10. Does your regulator switch on and off with power? How much was it? Where from? Cheers
  11. Here is my Paintball Tank solution:
  12. Hello! Thanks for that post! Just to confirm ive worked it out correctly: Average room temperature = 15 degrees C Desired water temperature = 29 degrees C Heating required = 14 degrees C Tank size = 140 litres Heater size = 300 watts ? Cheers
  13. Hello! I got a co2 canister regulator off eBay for around $30 USD, the bought a Paintball Co2 canister from trademe for about $50. And a Co2 Mixer off eBay for about $30 USD including shipping. The tank lasts about 3 months at 1 bubble per second, and the tank is $7 to fill (i get it filled up at a bb gun store in Kingsland Auckland) Ill post pics tomorrow, was going to do it now, but its to dark for the iPhone.
  14. Just an update, using 2x Jager 150 in our 140L tank seemed to do the trick. The temp is sitting on constant 29 degrees. I now have a reason to dislike winter :<
  15. Thanks! Thats probably it since we have BN to!
  16. Hello! Love the tank! One day maybe ours will look something like this... one day. I have a quesiton about your lotus, in this image, it shows the lotus looking like its been 'eaten' We have the same issue with a few of our lotus leaves, but we dont have any snails. Any ideas what it is? Cheers!
  17. My tank is 140L and the heater is max 150L, my house is like an icebox. So im guessing it might not be able to keep up with heating the tank past 26. I tried with another heater the same thing. So now im trying with 2x 150L heaters, will see how that goes.
  18. Re-calibrated it, and this morning, the tank is still at 26 degrees, Ive also tried the spare Jager 150 we have, same result. So i think the issue is because our flat is an icebox. Going to try using two Jager 150's.
  19. Thanks i will try that!
  20. Ive put our spare Jager 150 in the tank, Here is a pick of the one in question. It does have a build up of bubbles inside.
  21. Im guessing around 2 years, but it could be more. No way id still have the receipt anyway hehe.
  22. Hello all, Our Jager 150 Watt heater has been going great for the past few years, Now, since winter has arrived, it seems to be under-performing. We usually keep our tank at around 29 degrees, and setting the heater to 29 has always achieved this give or take a small amount. Now, the tank is sitting at 26 degrees, and i bumped the heater up to 31, but it hasn't seemed to help. Could this be the cold weather? Or is this a trait of a heater on its way out? (The heater size is correct for the size of the tank) Cheers :bounce:
  23. Hopefully everything works out! Would love to see some more pics when all is settled :nfs:

    Discus Pairing!

Im looking at maybe a 60x40x50 LxWxH @ 120L 40 Wide because thats the max width of the stand we have. I wonder if 50x40x50 LxWxH would be ok?
