  1. Hey so i tried it again like 3 hours later, unscrewed the regulator then screwed it back in, then the presure reading on the regulator went right back up, and the co2 started working again... Very odd... Do you need to leave the tanks for a while right after a refill? Also only about 5% of the difuser surface area has bubbles coming out, (we have it turned down to 1 bubble per second at the moment) - is this normal at low rates? Im going to upload some more photos to my blog in a min http://www.ubiladesign.com/ubilablog Cheers
  2. Yea so just got all my CO2 System setup today, went and got the tank filled, (i have a 12OZ paintball tank) Connected it up to the system, slowly open turned it on. It was going great for about 10 seconds then stopped. And the regulator showed that the cannister was now empty. There cant be any leaks on my CO2 system where the tubing connects, because the tubes are well fitted on with about 1cm of overlap, and they are very thin tubes for the fitting, IE they were very difficult to put on lol. Also im using CO2 tubing so there shouldnt be any escape from there. Any ideas whats happened? Could it be my regulator is maybe putting out to much CO2 for my small 12OZ tank? Or maybe they guy at the shop didnt fill it up properly? (if this is the case any suggestions were to get filled in Auckland?) Pictures of my gear here : http://www.ubiladesign.com/ubilablog Any help would be appreciated. Cheers
  3. http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/group/4530/product.web the regular CO2 tank price are too daring. I only got a 110L tank, this would do. just bought an 12OZ tank on trademe.
  4. Hey also how would i lower kH levels if they are to high? (weve been using buffers etc to get our pH to 6.8 so i guess our kH levels might be high)
  5. Just got rummy nose, siamese alge eaters, golden plaeco, clown loaches, planning to add a bunch of cardinal tetras, hopefully those fish can deal with the pH drop. Going to add the co2 very slowly at first though of corse.
  6. Hello Im wanting to find out what i can do to adjust pH levels in my tank incase of a pH drop once i add the CO2 system. Ive read that using buffers and things like "pH Up", will lead to inacurate CO2 level tests? (can anyone confirm this?) So if no buffers are to be used or pH Down/Up , what should i do the fix the pH if it dives after CO2 system is added? Also, how can i adjust KH levels if need be? (up/down) Cheers!
  7. I think mine finally start to kill some snails happy
  8. I read it some where that it'll be best to get an on/off valve to those CO2 tanks to turn off at night. I just saw those 1 way gang valve, will it be suitable to just "turn off" the co2 follow that way, without any trouble? Will it explode etc with the tubing? I am still getting a CO2 tank soon, but just trying to gather all stuffs I needed.
  9. we are still getting more gears for CO2 set ups and more plants  will get at least 2 small ones
  10. we don't want to sell them, may just add 1-2 small clown loaches
  11. maybe I just need a bigger tank and buy more really dont want to sell them, or get more at this point tho
  12. I told my boyfriend to get the smallest one, but he didnt listen, It's around 1 year and half now, it's about 4cm long now. I knew it does grow really big, but we bought it for our snail problem, due to moving to a new flat, we had a temp tank for them without any snails or plants, and just move them to our new planted tank, it is 140L, but we put lots of substrates in there, we want to do aquascaping. they are very playful. even tho they are not really in schools, and they are the bullies in the tank. just normal snails, I've read somewhere that it will team up with other fish http://www.fishlore.com/aquariummagazin ... -loach.htm may just try that with yoyo loach
  13. I may just get 1 more loach such as yoyo or something else... We wanted a tetra tank, not a loach tank, even tho they are cool, but not really up for big schooling fishes
  14. don't really want to sell ours, they are doing a good job making us laugh.
  15. how many do I need?
  16. We have 2 medium clown loaches, I don't think they are doing their job... what else should I get?
  17. I've found a co2 regulator from ebay for paintball co2 tank to aquarium, which has a valve build in. Just waiting for it to arrive and need to get a paintball co2 tank now.
  18. Will dry ice work? not putting in the tank of course. I know there are heaps posts about this already, but I don't want to invade other people's threads,
  19. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 740151.htm has anyone used this type before? is it worth it?? I am new to CO2 system... just gathering materials for now. I have read some of the articles, some DIY CO2 systems uses 2 bottles instead of 1, does that replace the glass bubble counter like this one here http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... 290775505?? I also would like to use cheap pressurised CO2 bottles, but seen a bit more expensive. And is it best not to mix baking soda in for the DIY ones? best regards.
  20. I read it on other website too, and the person who quote the same site got it worked.
  21. Where in Auckland I can go for aquatic plants? but is there any shop that provides more variety in aquatic plant breeds? mainly looking for hair grass, foreground type.
