  1. Hey if you dont mind saying, how much money would a project like this cost? For the materials, not labour. Cheers
  2. I have a discus fry that swims upside down and does loops. Hes one of the biggest fry, looks perfectly healthy, eats heaps and is very active. Its really entertaining watching him do loop de loops upside down lol. He even eats upside down sometimes. Trying to get a video. However i loose him in the mix of fry every time i try will post soon.
  3. Cleaner Wrasse looks like he/she likes kissing everyone! Very very nice setup mate. I would LOVE to setup something like this one day. Amazing!!!
  4. Cool i think im going to try the fish recipe. Sounds like a winner. Also. I found this if anyone is interested. Looks pretty expensive to make, but looks like it would be the most nutritious thing possible for the fish hehe http://www.rockymountaindiscus.com/Discus_fish_food_recipe.htm
  5. Thanks for the suggestions guys A question on the above link, ground pellets and liquid vitamins, what are these and where could i get them? Cheers!
  6. Hello, Will anyone be kind enough to share their beef heart recipe? Im going to need to make some soon to feed discus fry. Thanks!
  7. Hello, My discus fry around about 17days free swimming now, and have been on brine shrimp for about a week. What other foods should i start giving them? Cheers
  8. Thanks, im going to try increasing the oxygen in the tank by adding an air stone.
  9. Hello, One of our adult discus looks like shes heavy breathing, but her gills are "coming out" a little bit when she breathes. The gill flaps open rather wide, and it looks like the internal part of the gill comes out a little bit. Is this gill flukes? Any other way i can determine what this is? Cheers
  10. I think the aggression will only go away if the tank is bigger, and there is more discus.
  11. How big is the tank? Discus generally need to be kept in groups of 5-6 to avoid aggression and 50L per fish. Aggression is not good. The submissive one can get stressed and sick very easily.
  12. Im hatching them every day now for my discus fry. Easy to hatch, reasonably cheap and the fry love them! I think a 454 gram tin would last almost forever unless you have many tanks to feed each day.
  13. Thanks Forgot to add, this si 15 days free swimming
  14. Feeding fresh brine shrimp 4-5 times a day And they are eating off the side of the Dad Doing 2x 25% water change every day. After main feedings. They are looking kinda plump
  15. We have had a few of the dark top dwelling upside down fry you describe. However, the particular fry im talking about, is one of the largest, its a not dark color, it looks like what an albino would look like. And its not swimming upside down at the top of the tank. Its actually doing it at its Dads side. Then it goes and does big upside down loops in the water. Maybe it wants to be an pilot when it grows up?
  16. Hello, One or two discus fry are swimming upside down. Not sure what to make of this... thanks...
  17. All the time! But we have moved her now. The fry are eating the brine shrimp, there tummies are bulging lol
  18. Doing my best. We have lost a bunch of small fry, but i think they where just the ones that didn't get use to eating off the side of the parent, and subsequently starved.
  19. I managed to move them, i syphoned the fry to the other side, the Mum was more than happy to leave, she actually swam into the net lol. Ive started giving the fry brine shrimp, and they seem to eating some of it. Im guessing the male might get uptight soon, so hopefully the fry will be fully keen on the brine by that stage. Im doing 2x 25% water changes per day, should i be doing more than that with the brine shrimp in the tank?
  20. Thanks, any tips on removing her without removing the fry? They are all over her lol!
  21. Hello, Day 11 of free swimmer discus, and Discus Mum has started displaying some strange behavior. She keeps darting around in circles trying to knock to babies around. It looks like she might be trying to eat them, but doesn't actually do it. Like she lunges at them as if to eat them but doesn't. Any advice on what this is? Cheers
