  1. After they are done, the female seems to be warding away the male. Getting a bit heated. Hopefully they will resolve their differences lol? edit: they are calming down now.
  2. Hello! Our discus are laying eggs! Here is a video! View it in 480p. Recorded on iPhone so quality is bad.

    Discus Pairing!

Here is a video! Make sure you view it in 480p or its impossible to see anything It was filmed on an iphone, so quality is bad and makes it very hard to see them 'shivering', but they are doing it alot throughout the video.

    Discus Pairing!

thanks for your reply fishplants! Im thinking of just getting another tank for the breeding, probably 100L, i have all the other gear, so just buying a tank shouldn't hurt the wallet. Ill probably request a custom made one. Anyone know good dimensions for height of a discus breeding tank? Do they prefer a tank with more surface area? Or taller with less surface area? Cheers

    Discus Pairing!

thanks for all your advice! im not sure that the eggs would survive for 60 hours in our community tank! Our Blue Rams eggs would get demolished over night. (they kept trying though hehe) - also, the discus seem to be eyeing up the filter intake for the egg spot. Not sure if they will get sucked up or not. our discus are around 14 months old

    Discus Pairing!

Sorry i was wrong, the tank is 65L. Our discus seem small to be breading, the larger one is 4inches diameter, the other slightly smaller.

    Discus Pairing!

When you say wrigglers? what does that mean? They are 'shivering' at each other, and rubbing up against each other. Also cleaning the filter intake. So i should let them try and fail a few times first? Then move them to a separate tank? How long will this take? I'm unsure how often they do this! They are blue cobalt btw!
  9. Hello! It seems two of our discus are pairing up! We have never seen this before! It seems they have chosen the filter intake as a breading spot! Silly fish! Will the eggs stick? Or get sucked up? We have a spare tank, thinking of moving them to that, so community fish don't eat the eggs. Anyone got advice tips? Cheers!

    waste control?

I went to the pet shop pick up some cycle yesterday, I noticed the product that so called waste control. Anyone ever use it? Do I need it? :dunno:
  12. we actually use the big tube which is used for the filters, it is faster than the small tube without the vacuum thing on.
  13. the holes on the fish lips are gone, so is the eye thing, but still got white thing on the fins, I will treate it with some deworm thing. we only have those fish for half year or less, we thank you for the concern, but as far we know other fishes are healthy and happy, always swimming around and tease us for food when we are there looking at them. :bounce:
  14. Just one tank to move. Thanks for the advice people
  15. Yea im starting to think that removing the gravel is going to be way to messy.
  16. 150L we have quite a bit of gravel and substrate in there
  17. We are moving house. So will be moving the fish tank over. We have a moderately heavy planted tank. The plants have been in there around a year, will it damage the plants removing them? I would imagine the root system would be rather developed by now? I was thinking of either draining the tank and moving it with all gravel and plants, Or removing the gravel and plants then re planting once the tank is relocated. The first option might not be doable, since it might make the tank to heavy. As for the fish, we are going to setup a temp tank at the new place with 50% current tank water, then move the fish across, then the big tank, then do a swap. Any suggestions on what we should do with the plants and gravel? Cheers
  18. we have total of 1x 7-8cm discus 1x 6cm discus 1x 5cm discus and 1x 4cm discus (sick one) we change 25% water every 2-3 days I have put more salt in this morning, and just check it half hour before, the white line has gone.. but eye still the same.. it has the same eye problem with our 2 dead neons before, I googled everywhere, no such description on net, but our neon with the same glowing circle in the eye ball, both died with neon tetra disease, I am certain of the neon tetra disease as I search the description everywhere, and tried everything we could.
  19. I have posted two images on my blog (link in forum signature) They are not very clear images as i took the photos from my iphone, best i can do for now. Any help appreciated, Regards.
  20. I've found 2 small holes on my small discus upper lip, also found white lines on the two front fins, also weird glow looking circle on/in one of the eye near the nose... I suspect it is some kind of parasite infection?? :dead%fish  how do I fix him?? other discus(3) are healthy and bigger, the sick one sometimes pick on the 2nd largest discus we got, so he's not really got bully much.
  21. I tried with native shrimp and my fish decided to have a live meal instead of make friends....
  22. In regards to the waste, we do a 25% water change every 2 days. So the waste ammonia etc has never been a problem. Could higher pH levels cause aggression? For some reason even with buffer, our tank sits at around 7.2pH Cannot seem to get it down without Co2, but then it bounces between 6-7 every night its turned off :<

    Golden Ram

He has colored up ALOT since we first got him, The fin on his back grew really long, And his back tail has sort of dreaded (i dont think this was due to nipping) King of the tank. Even bullys the discus. We put 2 very small electric blue rams in with him, hes been looking after them, hes probably 7x bigger then they are haha.
