  1. I'd say, tell us before TM so we can have a look first! My understanding of the law is: You can catch them, but you can't take them away from the stream and you can't put them back.
  2. Guess what I saw at the local fish shop today... 6 or so, 5cm approx, in a 60L Tank. looked cool - I can see why people buy them, shame they get huge and ugly!
  3. I too have asked TM for the above. Seems I wasn't the only one. :-?

  8. Time for me to replace my turtles UV bulb again! BUT the fitting im using is a long masterpet fluro tube and half the light misses the basking platform and goes into the water, resulting in lovely green glass.... The bulbs are about $50 is there a better way to give my turtles the UV light they need? I have a set of two screw fit lamps above and one is not in use so I'm looking into the bulbs that look like energy savers. Please help me out.... Thanks

  13. I have four axy's under 15cm in a large tank filled with driftwood rocks and plants. This gives them loots of places to hide. During the day it is normal to only see 1 or 2 out and about, but come feeding time (8pm) they all come out and sit along the front of the tank. So its normal for your axy to hide. If one of them does lose a leg or gill don't worry too much as it will grow back fairly soon, if however one is the subject of repeated attacks you may have to separate them. Hope this helps, .

  17. What kind of snails? ramshorn, trumpet, apple snail etc. With ramshorn snails: http://i33.tinypic.com/2q8984j.jpg you will see small clear blobs on the glass with tiny snails inside: http://s4.hubimg.com/u/1930711_f520.jpg The tiny snails will soon be seen on the glass along the water line of the tank. The will grow quickly and soon over run your tank, then you will be asking us how to get rid of them.
  18. I agree he is great!
  19. Yeah just like, Poecilia Tiger Woods  Sorry I couldn't help myself.
  20. 2nd hand tanks on Trade Me are great even if you find one that needs re-sealing, a tube of silicone only costs about $20 or so. But glass is very expensive so new tanks cost a lot. Also it depends on what you want to keep; if you buy every thing separately you can customise it for the species of fish. eg. for $50 you could... Get a 30L at the petshop or a 200L on TM. I have 6 tanks thanks to Trade Me .... and counting!
