  1. I feed "Aquarian Algae Eater Sinking Chips" "Contains 3 types of algae". It comes in a blue & white plastic bag. But I only put 1-2 chips in a week, as the tank has a lot of natural algae.
  2. I've been back since to! I have some in a tropical tank (25'C) they seem fine. (they are not live food) Catch them Put in coldwater tank Slowly warm up over 2-3 days You do lose some but out of about 10, I've still got 8 or so after 4 months.
  3. I've been thinking... Madagascar rainbowfish Pygmy Gourami Black Neons Dwarf Gourami Does anyone have any of these, what are they like to keep.
  4. I've had a swap, the guppies have moved from there small tank into a larger one & the other fish have lost there big tank for the guppies old one, however its a longer tank so they can school much better. In the tank there is: 10x Neon Tetra 3x Rocket Pencil 10-13 WCMM's (tank is at 25'c so I hope its ok :-? , I've seen them sold as tropical fish in pet shops. There colours are much brighter in tropical water anyway). 2x Harlequins 1x Clown Loach What should I get more of?, I know I should get more harlequins and/or Clown Loachs but they cost a lot. I would consider trading the Harlequins + some cash, for a school of other fish. PM/E-mail me!
  5. YAY , a empty tank! But what should I put in it? :-? Glass, 25L approx, can be heated & filtered I was thinking a fighter maybe, as I have one in a tank the same as this one. Only thing is that the fish/thing has to be cheap ($20 max). Also... When I was in aussie I saw these things "crazy crabs" can we get these little guys here. (I know we have hermit crabs in the sea but these ones stayed on land with just a small dish of water). http://www.crazycrabs.com/main.html
  6. It should be fine, I have 1 dog, 1 cat, 4 fish tanks (some not covered) 1 turtle tank & a Robo Can. Nothing is dead There are two types, we buy the natural one (I think the can/box is green) .
  7. when the fish take up more space in your bedroom than you!
  8. Thats cool I just finished a similar project. I have 1 female guinea pig & looking for more females.
  9. Yeah I was joking, I couldn't feed them to anything. I had a frog untill a few weeks ago when it escaped .
  10. Feed them to the Axolotls!
  11. What sand do you use, where did you get it from?
  12. I am thinking of getting one and want to know... - Axolotl or Axolotyl (I'm sure its the first one) - Should I have gravel - Best food to give them - Do they need a chiller in summer (Hawkes Bay) - What size tank should I have for 2 20cm Axolotls - What should I put in there tank (plants, rocks, etc.) Thanks
  13. Welcome to the forum! Does it look like this? If so see my post viewtopic.php?f=40&t=42810 The turtle experts round here are "DonnaM" and "LivingArt", they will know what's wrong. I don't think that your set-up is to blame. However you didn't say you had a water heater, if you dont have one you need to get one and a plastic guard. Set it to 26/27'C .
  14. Thanks that's good news! , my $10 investment is paying off  .
  15. Here he is close up. I caught him during basking, as I said before it looks worse when he is dry than wet.
  16. hmmmmm, yeah the layer with the spots is very thin and you can see new shell under it.
  17. Here are the pic's You can see the white spots best in pic 1, they look alot worse when his shell is dry (while/just after basking). You can also see new healthy shell along the edges.
  18. THE STORY: A few days ago I was in a local pet store (for one of my weekly visits) and a couple walked in with a long cardboard box, In it was a Red Eared Turtle that they had found in their driveway. They brought it to the pet shop after asking all their neighbours all of which knew nothing about the turtle. They were planning on keeping it but after being shown the gear they would need and the huge price tag they decided they would release it somewhere, the shop keeper supported this idea! So I jumped in and gave the couple $10 for it the turtle (Lucky) has become my existing turtles best mate. THE PROBLEM: His shell, skin and eyes were in a horrible state and he was very skinny (the reason I’m hot trying to find the owner). Since then (clean water & a good diet) he has got fatter, his eyes are a bright blue colour and the green lines on his skin have got brighter. The shell has improved a little bit but it is still covered in white specs which will not come off. There is some nice knew shell coming through in places. Should I just wait? PLEASE HELP
  19. It seems to be getting better, most of the white stuff has gone and I can now see that the fin is closed up. I have just moved him into the tank hes in (3 days ago) he was in a fish bag for a while so he might have hurt himself then. However it looks good for him I have also had some male guppies with tale prob's, their tales would go from long flowing and healthy to almost like rubber (stiff and clumpy looking). However since the move they to have gone back to norm. Thanks.
  20. My male guppy's left fin has what looks like a white clump on it, he has been rubing it on the rocks in the tank trying to get rid of it. Help... Please!
  21. Mine got this at one stage (looked just like yours in photo) by the time I went and got some white spot cure (2 days) the spots were gone. ... also I had a pleco with "white spot" turns out he had just been sitting under the spraybar.
  22. I do have a VCR (LG) player but it plays with white lines running down the screen, could it just need a clean? :-? I want to view the tapes and then look at putting them onto DVD, isn't it illegal to download movies?
