  1. Shucks thanks Bronze-Dragon I know many people who breed "fantastic Guppies", but its different strokes for different folks, we all have our likes and dislikes. The ultimate Guppy takes time . You'd get better responses if you'd put a location in you profile  and stated your "likes".
  2. Hi Tania, I'm surprised Garry hasn't seen this thread So what did you see.... And what did you buy? ?
  3. I wouldn't rule out disease either, if you are loosing other Guppies or otherwise healthy Guppies are developing similar traits. On a brighter note I have a beautiful big strong juvi Gold Ribbon Fin male, much bigger than the original males but with the 3 toned tail they sport. He is with the girls now sharing his genes, I very excited :bounce: and should have plenty to share once they arrive and grow. I also put some of the girls that had a touch more yellow in their tails with blue boys, and younguns tails are not quite green but blue with shimmers of yellow or opposite looking really good, with long fins too.
  4. Hey Sandy, I have had bent females some of which I think have been grown up too quick and I have had a couple of fry that have developed as they have gotten older which is probably genetic, had a few from the Gold Ribbon Females. The ones that go like bananas and fade away, I think is weight of tail, mostly male, the tail gradually drags them down and they go like get bent like a banana. I have lost lots of weak linebred ones, the offspring were even weaker. I cull.... now.
  5. Yeah that can always be a problem with not enough females to a male and yes the females do get harassed to death.
  6. Then you must try to be very good in this life, grasshopper! aka phoenix44   Yes I have been told I can do this for my Ribbon Fin Guppies. As it is the female who carries the long fin gene I have stuck to breeding with either a young or not too well endowed male to keep the line going. Have had no problems so far.
  7. The best success we have had has been with a 3 to 1 ratio of girls to boy.
  8. Lol I've been in 'boys' caves  :-? Some posts should get buried.
  9. Yol Batboy!! That was pulled from a deep dark, probably smelly cave
  10. Hi Scott, welcome. I heard you had Guppies Cool that you have your first lot of babies :bounce: we look forward to seeing them

  12. Liquid Multivitamins? Where and what do you use Phoenix? I have done some reading and would like to Vit B and at least it would be covered in the Multi.

  14. Opps was talking and typing and accident hit submit. Spink is dropping Platies off for me to Tracytrout and I will pick them up around the 25th, does that help? Rox
  15. Bronze Dragon came up yesterday and I wasn't really thinking about Platies. Also we hadn't actually meet them, what a lovely young couple they offered to courier fish to Wgtn for us and of course I jumped :bounce: at the chance to get them to drop off fish, air pumps and plants for us to TracyTrout.
  16. Oh Phoenix that is so cute. Haha, can't answer any of your questions but!

    baby mollys

Gosh I'm not sure, this is my first time with Molly fry. As I said earlier my female didn't look much worse for wear after delivering. I had fed her up really well while she was carrying and she looked very healthy not overly huge like Guppy or Swordtails, looking at her because she is quite coloured I couldn't see a lot of darkness of fry before she delivered and was very surprised to see the fry and so many. Because I bought her from the Pet shop with her mate I have no idea how many times she has carried although I'm thinking this isn't her first time. Hopefully someone much more knowledgeable than I comes along to help you! I do know they carry for 45-60 days perhaps she needs feeding up?

    baby mollys

Hi I got nearly 40 fry from my Mrs Molly not last Tuesday but the Tuesday before, 12 days old now. I was very surprised to see so many and equally as surprised to see how huge they were. Nothing like a Guppy fry and quite coloured even to begin with. Mrs Molly hadn't been with Mr for about 3 weeks as I didn't want him hassling her. The babies, still under 2 weeks old are in their own tank as I really want to feed them well with microworm and decap and don't want them competing with older fish. But could easily have kept them were they were, I don' think she could have eaten one whole. Before the birth I had condition Mrs Molly too, cos I had read that the fry would be large and that there could be plenty and I must admit she looks no worse for wear. Good luck with yours
  20. Does it have a blockage? We unhooked ours gave it a clean popped it back together and no go. Primed and primed and still not working. Garry gave the hoses a big blow and it released blockage and started gurgling away again
