  1. Cool thanks, thats on the to do list for sure, wasnt quite sure where it was but thought it would be well signposted, stuck in my head from the Ads on TV. How long should we allow to have a good viewing? Thanks for the Pet Shop advice Stacey, will do that too.
  2. Hey everyone, we are heading over to New Plymouth from Wangas tomorrow. What are the must do's along the way and the must do's when we get there? Any don't do's? All things touristy considered plus good fish "stops" along the way. :bounce: Will be heading home with precious cargo, we're going is to collect fish purchased from the other site. And can someone back up my order for Summer, this wind is getting beyond a joke. We are off to Kowhai Park tonight for Fish and Chip picnic with family from out of town and I think it will be just a quick eat and run home for shelter, bring on Summer. ta
  3. Here are my babies, also purchased from Palmy. More recent than the ones I sent you Stu and better I think.

    Tanks Outside

Very interested too, today we just set up a 4 and 3fter on a stand on outside shelter deck area. Any type of Barb or are some no good, I'd like Tiger/Green Barbs?
  5. I agree fair cop, we all know where we can park and where we can't, same all over the country you don't need signage to remind you. You speed you pay! As for parking tickets, I know people in Wgtn who choose not to pay for all day parking cos the cost is just about as the parking ticket. But if I am "spending" my hard earned money in Wanganui and am held up in the shop by other "shoppers" and assistants and then make it back to my car late and find a parking ticket (Xmas 2007, people, rivers run deep) then that is a pain *to say the least) after all, weren't parking spaces created for the "shoppers" to park in, not for council revenue.

    Mollies, just ID

Thanks for all the help I am really looking forward to having these guys and offspring in a display tank but thats in the future... Was wondering tho, if we got these from our LFS, did anyone else see the same at theirs?? And another question, are we likely to see them again?

    Hi from Wanganui

Hi Welcome from us too. As Ryan said, we r only a new club and planning our first tank crawl in the near future, many of us will be very interested if you would like to share. Me, I'm into Guppys and more recently Molly, my partner Garry Crown tails 8)

Wow thanks so much, they look amazingly similar to the link at wikipedia, still a little lighter and less colour on the belly (as seen in my photo) but yes thats the finage and blue colouring to an absolute tee . Am I lucking or what, they are truly beautiful fish. Now I am thinking that they are probably near to full size?

Happy 2009, yes I do I am really excited about getting them breeding too. I am in very early stages, with only 2 males, 5 females and 10 1-2 week old fry.

Your gold/white female sounds very interesting too, I am so impressed with them, no mistaking these for Platy!

Hey Dixon thanks. Their under bellies are silver/grey. Will be really interesting to see if they breed true, she is gravid but was in a tank with others, I didn't even see what they were or if they were males or females to be honest. So any ideas on approx how old they wld be? All info is great for me.

Hi Ryan, at Something Fishy, to tell the truth I have no idea, these were the only fish I could SEE! I have little pure whites from Dalmation lines but I have tanks and big plans for my little live bearers. I would love somebody who "knows" to help me identify these guys better. And hey I got some gold ribbon fin Guppys from Palmy, when we were there last. How is your fish room coming along, and family

Does anyway know what color I should call these, fin type etc. Bought from the LFS and the male is already nearly 7cm long, I am thinking I will need to keep them separate from my Dalmation and White Mollies cos I expect they wld breed with all of their own kind? Any words of wisdom would be kindly appreciated.
  14. Hi, I am new to Mollys, became enthralled after Tracy/Trout took us along to the live bearers show in Wainui and then got me my first Dalmations When we went to the LFS I found some more, these are a lot bigger than the ones I already have and the colouring is unlike others I have seen in the shops, they are a little more yellow than solid orange shown in the photo, with blue glints in the fins and tail, nearly as big as our dwarf neon Rainbow. The female is a lot less coloured than the male I was very lucky to get this perfect photo of the pair of them, first up. Does anyone have the offical name for me or any other info?
  15. Yeah we bought a pair of cobalt dwarfs from our LFS. They were sold as a pair, behaved as a couple and my son in law, who used to own a petshop (fish being his thing) confirmed they were too, she was not grey as others are describing. Unfortunately we lost ours, seems they are coming in with ulcers and slowly die off Olly - We wld happily travel to Palmy if and when you have some to spare
  16. Thats so not Christmas. Feel for you, we are only very new and even one death hurts like heck. Let alone Fishies you have had for 2.5 yrs. So sorry Air Hugs
  17. Yes that would be awesome but not sure that we have that privilege in Wanganui, only 2 here at the mo. I like the 2 for one deal people have been talking about this week, would be grateful to know when its on in Palmy so we could come over and take advantage.
  18. You know I would love that, I guess cos they hide alot at the fish shops you don't get to see them in "full swing", just having one for a few days makes me know that these guys are on my wish list. Every morning he's waiting for his breakfast but he needs buddies. When we enquired at the Pet shop we were told that smaller ones are not as hardy and that we should get bigger ones to help with survival rate. And Ryan says its not so good buying them off the list, which I know is probably true, by looking at the variance that in other fish that come through. And waiting and picking up one every couple of weeks when the fish orders come into the shop and checking out the quality will be a slow process.
  19. Also, read the guidelines please; No posts are to be made with the intention of forming a bulk purchase or import by invite to meet a minimum order quantity Clown loaches are happier in groups and grow large (though slowly) so you need a good sized tank to house them. They are also susceptible to white spot so need excellent water conditions at all times. Good luck with your search.
  20. Hi, yeah thats what we were planning to do. Do you know someone who has purchased recently. We went to both shops in town yesterday and as Simon says they have 2 in stock one much smaller and lighter coloured than the other, both are $30. How many is a good sized community. We have a few tanks, planning on having them in the 3footer.
  21. Hi, we were given one clown loach during the weekend and would dearly love to have a group. Is there anyone around our way who has some they want to part with or alternatively anyone who is interested in getting some or more so we can do a bulk deal at the Pet Shop. Can get them for around $16-24 depending on size and for an order of 5 or more. ta
  22. Cool as. All are well ta and Danio are darting backwards and forwards and around and over and under, occasionally with the other 5 in tow, lol. Changed the whole layout of the tank.
