    wet pets

Lots more live bearers, Guppies are half the price of Animates! Tanks are cleaner and better cared for. Other fish are dearer. And a whole wall of display tanks with real fish, huge fish.
  5. Hi are you sure is Gourami or are sure its snakeskin Have you got a pic?
  6. Hey Sam, they should grow up more or less just as they are now. :bounce: :bounce: What'd their parents look like?
  7. I like you Twinkles have a small container that always has a newish culture ready to use as a starter for the next. And I never redo all my cultures on one day cos........... you never know what could go wrong! At the moment I have a fantastic young culture, an equally good older one and one that has plenty to look at but getting a bit whiffy  tonight I scraped the top off and made a new little one, then stirred up the remainder, tomorrow if if doesn't improve it'l be out and the little culture will go into some new rolled oats. But I expect it will improve for at least the next couple of days giving the little culture time to mature.
  8. Lots of good advice people. For any that don't know, we have a fantastic venue (completely unfish related) and although some of us travel it doesn't seem to be a problem, some from as far as Wgtn, a good excuse to visit the local stores too The original meeting time and date also didn't seem to be an issue we all easily agreed that it suited us all, Sunday afternoon, last Sunday of the month (how easy is that). Yeah Dave, thats what we want too, to meet like minded to people and share and not scare new comers. Thanks for all the good advice and as Mel said keep it coming
  9. Fantastic, :bounce: they are beautiful fish. They (the male) caught my eye in the shop on the Thursday before the sale and I forgot about them on the day BUT thats cool we're not ready for Killies as yet! But at least I did recognise them as Killies although I do quite fancy Phils King Killies

    Baby Bns

Me too :bounce: :bounce: they are fantastic fish to watch grow. Once they get started they are pretty reliable about doing it again and again. Ah Mel?
  11. Yeah, I don't know! To be honest I was so gutted that I made Garry handle everything and I couldn't even look at her Really weird as you had been having problems with one of yours and then we have one dead.
  12. Thanks, they are growing into themselves and looking gorgeous We lost the other female this week I came home from work and she was dead in the tank My GBA's are still breeding every 30 days so I am practicing doing everything right   with the babies before "I" even consider getting the conditions right for breeding these guys.
  13. I did a little pruning today, for the meeting tomorrow and ripped out a few plants. My Male Starlight and his gf have been moving around the tank a little earlier tonight and I took the opportunity to take a couple of photos of them. This is the male Looking a lot less blotchy than you saw his last timev :bounce: http://1a.co.nz/aquarium/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/starlight-male.jpg And this lovely female http://1a.co.nz/aquarium/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/starlight-female.jpg
  14. Yep that sounds like the one, she said she was picking up the tank this week and it would be the first time have tropicals, they'd had goldfish before. Very good I'm glad she is coming Bronze-dragon is a nice lady too Anyone updates to what people are bringing or could bring to the swap meet??????? :bounce: :bounce:
  15. Is she the one we met who was picking up one of the display tanks for a Kindy?
  16. Hi Kiwiplymouth we have been wondering about ours too, this is the original photo of our male and he hasn't really improved any. The girls have a more even all over colouring but never solid . I am assuming this is because ours are still young but yours are older, they are their parents. In saying that could it be hormonal?????
  17. Hi everyone reminders for your lists. Check your email for updates of what others are bringing. Out of towners pls feel welcome to come and visit Palmy and meet some new friendly faces :bounce: :bounce:
  18. Oh my gosh that is tooooooo cute    Thank goodness for Grandies :bounce: :bounce:
  19. A good timely reminder, thanks Ryan Garry's to do job for this weekend to sort through all our boxes of bits. I'm going to do some pruning Should be a good day :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  20. Wow thats very impressive, I love planted tanks. The only reason not to Africans Truely a credit to you, so glad you shared with us :bounce: :bounce:
  21. Yep it was on Queen St when I was a kid and it was still there when my kids were kids. I remember 3 of the families who have owned it at one time or another. Very very sad to see it go my grandkids are going to miss out on the stroll along Queen St and visit to see all the baby animals.
  22. Yeah we guessed they were One problem tho, is that the females do get too big to be squeezed, we were given another big female full of eggs but the males weren't big enough for the job!
  23. Wow very very nice fish I love the blues and purples. I have no idea how many males and females are in our 540litre community tank, along with dwarf Gourami of all colours, goes against all the rules but if it works, it works. I also replenish my breeding tanks with nice little coloured ones out of Garry's growout tank, at the moment I have a gorgeous baby blue male living amongst my fry, as I catch them from other tanks I just dump them in, on his head and as far as I know he doesn't eat any   :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: He'll stay there until Garry plucks him out for breeding or someone comes along and offers us $$'s  and then he'l be replaced with another sweetie.
  24. I send mine in damp newspaper then a fish bag, sealed well and then packaged in our thick brown paper, or chinese food containers in fish bag is good too. I had Indian Fern arrive the other week in filter wool and then a plastic bag and although they only took a day, they all died. They were already browned when they arrived and just faded away.
