    iceberg lettuce (normal one) dosent have any nutrients so is rather useless. Mesculin lettuce on the other hand is good.

    you can get bags of crushed oyster shells in mitre 10 bunnings etc in the gardening section in big 10kg bags.

    one of the guys at work has a rule with regards to my fish keeping : 'your fish is not better than anyone elses fish, and any dog is better than your fish.' Hes an old stubborn man and theres no amount of argument that will change his mind.

    sucks to hear about the dogs. hard to believe that someone would just waltz up to the dogs to let them 'free', barking dogs are no reason to do that sort of thing

    its probally better to get a rescue one, theres turtle rescue places in both auckland and christchurch

    check out your local urlich aluminum or other window making factory. they often have offcuts in a bin down the back, they wont be exactly like a heatsink but they might have something that could do the job for cheep

    with flash cards make then colorful like the memo cubes. and keep the information on it clear and simple, and keep the questions really clear with no ambiguity.

    have you also got peat in the tank filter?

    wood helps aswell, could try using rain water in the waterchanges instead of tap? its always better for fish to have a constant PH rather than one that fluctuates.
