  1. Yeah, when I was back in the States I bred buckets of pinkies for my reptiles...and my partner used to always steal them for his tanks of big fish. Nom nom
  2. Yeah, that's the one. That's why I listed it in my sig. Apparently many people don't have their computer set up to use the button. :-?
  3. Not sure what you mean. If you are talking about sending them in the mixture, it is best not to send the mixture with them because they can easily multiply too much and die in that small space. If they are just in water, they will just be hanging out, and not breeding or creating much waste. Or maybe you are asking about feeding procedures? I use large yogurt type containers as my micro 'hotels' and I just use a wooden skewer to run it around the inside to scrape the sides clean each day. To feed them out, I rinse the stick off into a jar of water. Then I just leave them like that and feed them out with a dropper over the course of the day. That way there is not a load of muck going into the tank with the worms.
  4. Sure no worries. Send me an email. If you know anyone going your way, that would save about $30 in courier costs.
  5. I'd be worried about the urea in those sticks (toxic ammonia products).
  6. It should be just fine. If you are concerned it is not leak proof you can add some warm water to the container and shake it to see how much it leaks when under pressure. It won't matter if a little leaks out when the worms are in there, as long as some of them remain alive in the jar when it gets to its destination.
  7. I use a tiny jar, about the size of a film container from plastic box, it costs about $5 for the jar and postage. Give the bag a try, if you double bag it, it will just make a little mess.
  8. You could do that. I tried that a few times but it seems they always leak no matter what. :-?
  9. This is what I do: Scrape the worms off the sides (as I do when I feed them out), put them in a little air tight plastic jar with a small amount of water and put it in a sealed plastic bag (in case it leaks - yuk). Warp it in bubble wrap and post it. That's it. They will last for at least a couple of days like that. The recipient can easily pour the worms onto new culture media and it will take off.
  10. Young pair, the male then nearly doubled in size and the female stayed the same size.
  11. In your pics I still see orange in the dorsal fin, however it is striping resembling the mature male hongsloi (but they usually have pink striping rather than orange). I don't see many spots on the anal fin or black markings on the pectoral fins but perhaps those markings aren't obvious in all specimens. I guess only time will tell. Again (just to keep the topic complete for comparison) here are a couple of pics of a breeding female I have. Her female offspring look like her. A young female: Young male: Juveniles:
  12. Why not pinkies? There is no danger of mice going extinct and they can be bred very cheaply.

Ok, that sounds great, or I could pop round your place if that would be easier. He told he it came from a different source - but this was some time ago. Maybe you could have a look at it sometime?
  14. *sigh, I must come round again. I need to drool over them.

Ooo, I would love a bit of the variegated minima! I got the gold petite from John, it looks just like ordinary petite but a much lighter yellowish colour. It's only a small bit, but when it grows up I will be in touch. Simon, I looked at my minima and it is growing well so I don't think it will be long before I can split some off.

  20. I agree. I used to use PMDD years ago, but now I prefer the flexibility of being able to fine tuning my macros. I really like the results I get with Comprehensive for micros so now I dose each of NPK separately plus Comprehensive and added iron.

I know for sure these are here: Anubias minima Anubias barteri v. barteri Anubias barteri v. 'nana' Anubias barteri v. 'nana 'petite golden' Anubias barteri v. nana 'petite' Anubias barteri v. 'marble' I have also seen a giant variety here, might have been Anubias gigantae.
  22. I really don't think those are hongsloi, but I am not an expert. None of my females have that orange coloration. Either they are broody yellow, or they are grey w/ black markings. Other than some blue spots on the face, there are no other colours. They could be young males, but the chin doesn't have stripes and the dorsal fin is a bit too short and rounded....?
  23. I just took a pic of a breeding female hongsloi (she's about 2cm without the tail). She was all yellow but I think I made her mad. :-? Doesn't look much like the pics above....
