6mm glass would be sufficient for your needs but put in extra bracing... better to be safer than sorry. centre brace is also adviseable.

I use those compact florescent lights right through my house... saves some cents but it all adds up... not that much more expensive than incandesents... welll I bought mine from the warehouse

Hmmm ... Oscars.... don't think they have too many bones like a blue cod. I would suggest steamed with ginger and spring onions and a sprinkling of about 2 tsp of salt... steam for 15mins and then pour on some Soy sauce. Hmmm yummmyyy :lol:

It really depends on how big you want your pond... if it is the size of a swimming pool then yes... if it is the size of a small paddling pool then I don't think so.... I have bathtubs at my place and if I need a permit for those then I am screwed :roll:

you want really easy to keep plants then get Water sprite and Indian fern. Every month I have to clear the top of my 4ft tank of the stuff.

I believe that the secret to using UG filters is to have a nice thick layer of gravel... especially if you want to have plants as well

provided that your divider is lower than the sides of the tank I think it would work. what you could do then is to have the spraybar saddle the divider so that you can get a relative even discharge of water... and if heaven forbids if one end gets more water than the other you won't have a problem with it overflowing the sides with regards to intake it should work with taking even amounts of water out from both sides. Just a thought

try placing some metal rods between the glass and light cover so that there is a gap between the two.
