  1. Mealworms are relatively easy to care for. I am working on raising mealworms at the moment for my fish, but I beleive you really need to start with a reasonably big culture so that you can feed them out. you do however from time to time need to change the bran flakes as the mealworm poo accumulates down the bottom and smells like ammonia.... then kills the mealworms. Big bin works well. If you can go to a grain store like wrightsons, RD1 or PCL you can pickup large bags of Bran flakes (chicken feed) reasonably cheaply. Beats paying $5 - $6 for a small pack from the supermarket. I hope to have an article on this in next years AW

  5. oat bran flakes. Problem is that you need to start with a large culture of mealworms and feed out less than they are reproducing. Working on a how to guide now for mealworms for an up coming Aquarium world

  13. I would use the following ceramic noodles Eheim Substrate sponge before it goes back into the tank. Not familiar with this particular filter but... I apply this method to my external filters and HOB (Hang on Back) filters.

  18. I would prefer that Marineland get at least another 2 more dolphins as it makes dolphins more reachable to the general public. who can afford to pay nearly 100 dollars to go out on a boat to see pods of dolphins and even then there is no guarantee that you will see one. Stupid people and their high horses are what stopped marineland from getting more dolphins. Having dolphins in captivity aids with the understanding of dolphins as you can organise school trips to go see them with little costs... try organising a school trip to go out on a boat, and see how much that is going to cost each child. Gets me so mad when stupid little people say "no to captivity"... Kelly lived to 38.. and that is very old in dolphin terms.. you don't get to that age in the wild.
  19. You can buy flexible pipe brushes from your lfs to clean those long pipes I have one, it is just a small brush at the end of a flexi wire
  20. Still not enough good bacteria. The filter is only a portion of the good bacteria. the rest is in the gravel. so with the addition of so many fish at one time...this happens. keep up the water changes
  21. I would chuck out the filter wool as that clumps quite badly use sponges instead. Don't forget to clean the pipes as well as that is the main thing that clogs and reduces flow quite considerably. I only clean the filters if flow is much reduced.. around once a year
  22. Dancing in the the bathtub is definitely not recommended then? Glad you are better though... well I am assuming you are Take care now... do your dancing and jiggling before and after you have a shower!!!!
