  1. I would not bother with the heater at all, cause they are cold water fish. You also may have either both females or both males. Best to get some more, at least another 4 amd get them of differing sizes so that you will at least get a pair or two. Lots of Java Moss too, as the adults tend to eat the fry.
  2. With regards to "yeast", Use BREWERS YEAST, this is available from health food shops. You can also use banana skins too. If you use whole bananas make sure you give it a bit of a squish and break the skin a little. You will eventually find little bloodworms in the banana, good food for fish.
  3. don't forget to get an R4 for it. if you don't know what it is google it. Plenty on TM Worth getting to save money.
  4. A Trio of Killies would make a lovely addition!!!
  5. It comes down to water flow and surface area. I use both in my external filters. I use the noodles as the first media water passes through as this takes out any large materials Second container is filled with the ceramic media as this filters out smaller particles. Both of these are porus so good for bacteria to grow on. With regards to drift wood. it is mostly cosmetic, unless you plan to put in some bristlenoses, in which case drift wood, would be beneficial.
  6. Not wrong there. That happened to me over xmas. lucky only a couple mbs over. As I said. a little surfing and checking emails is fine. Forget about uploading and downloading stuff :-?
  7. I know your dilema Jenna. cheaper way of doing it if she is here for a year is to get landline broadband and then get a wireless adsl router. I know that telecom are giving them away with their setup, but not too sure about whether it is 12 or 24 month term you sign up for. This way she can move around the garden without the cords and it would be cheaper than wireless. If she is not surfing the net much and only doing emails then vodafone offers $1/day for 10mb of data. Worth a look especially if you have a 3G phone. Paul
  8. Just letting you know that, for those that have registered their breedings recently. Your certificates are in the mail today. You breeding coordinator will be able to hand them out at your next club meeting. Thanks for your patience FNZAS Breeding Co-ordinator. Wok.
  9. I hear the Carpark is pretty safe
  10. You can purchase dwarf varieties of citrus Trees. Meyer is good as it fruits year round. Just give it some fertiliser from time to time and you won't be dissapointed. I think Kings stock a good variety of Dwarf citrus.
  11. Goldfish Pagoda in Pakuranga is worth a look if you are after goldfish and discus.
  12. Long Bay Orewa is a good one too.
  13. You call that work? shooting off explosives, shooting swans.... I call it a pastime. Went into work this morning to do a couple things but that is it till next monday :bounce: :bounce: Like Caryl... we are boring farts...LOL
  14. Sony Bravia's are great provided you get at the least the "V" series or upwards (v,W,X...) These LCD's are FULL HD, which is what you will need. Multiple HDMI inputs are a benefit as previously stated. and BUILTIN Freeview is a bonus too. Samsungs are great LCD tvs too. Panasonics are the best in Plasma and the there is very little difference in picture quality compared with LCD tv's. Don't let plasma put you off a purchase if it is cheap. It it were me. I would look for: 1. Full HD (High definition along the width and height of the screen. HD ready means it is only High definition along the width of the screen) 2 Builtin Freeview 3 Price.
  15. Purchase the aqua one brand of filter material.. I find it is cheap and does the job. cork is not permeable enough for bacteria to get into it to work
  16. I personally would not use filter wool as it clogs up too quickly and needs to be changed more often than a coarse sponge. for the fluval i would have the ceramic tubes at the bottom then the eheim substrate, then the noodles again. Keep the sponges. As Caryl said do one chamber at a time. Then again, from the sounds of it all you have to do is change the second chamber from tubes to eheim substrate. Filter will run stronger for much longer than if you used filter wool.
