I'm getting fed up with my huge male bristlenose...hes in a 3ft tank with 3 females, has lots of wood and caves and otherwise perfect conditions, but until now, no spawns or even hints of spawns.
I went to bunnings yesterday, and saw a conjugate box (they use them on prefab buildings to do the wiring). It has one entrance, and approx an 8cm x 8cm x 4cm box at the end of the tube. It looked like a pretty good home for my boy.
I got it home, washed it, and popped it into the tank. I didn't really have any hope of them doing anything, but thought that one more cave can only be good.
Well, I got up this morning and saw the male with his tail hanging out of the cave. I could see one female, but not the other. I sat down and watched him, and he flailed around, then eventually, I saw the female emerge from the cave! She's been going in and out, and he's been following, and standing guard outside the cave.
Sorry about the dodgy picture quality!
I'm pretty sure this is going to be a spawn, now I just have to hope that he manages to look after the eggs and babies if/when they hatch!
