I would fill it up - all the way. There is no need to keep it almost half empty :lol: That sword will get large so you might want it further away from the sides. Also i suspect your J pipe is around the wrong way Looks good so far.. needs more plants and you should be good to go. maybe remove some of the sand? - It's not something I have had to say before; usually it's the other way around.

Them surviving in NZ waterways is only a part of the equation. The other part considers diseases, pathogens and the potential for natives to be adversely affected by any foreign organism; and given New Zealand's genetically unique flora and fauna,it is pretty darn important.
