    G'day!

    Welcome to the federation!
  2. Just chuck some fish in there, or come around when im doing a wc on sat and ill give you some old water and grime. should be good to cycle a tank.
  3. You might have to make a trip to welly / palmy. kuhlis are cheap and stores in welly and palmy should have them on a regular basis. not a very long drive too...
  4. As henward has already said. You don't have to drive any where. you can go on their website and contact them. Then wait at home, and your fish will arrive.
  5. The GLA and Rhinox ones are exactly the same Joe..
  6. Maccus need a 3ft at minimum. Standard 2ft sizes and near matches to that size are far too small.
  7. I like your phoenix tail! Pretty awesome! Jar is growing pretty well too.
  8. No plecos. Bristlenoses maybe, but not proper plecos. And stay away from pairs of apistos unless you want them to breed.
  9. Not all questions get answered on the same day. Especially on a weekend / during weekday work hours. We do check the beginners section to make sure people are being helped, but it can take time
  10. Given how boisterous they are; how much they move around and how active they can be; the best long term tank option would be a 5ft long tank nearing 350-400L. They can get quite large, and grow incredibly fast.
  11. Thanks! Those new fluval CO2 kits are a bit blingy for my liking, and are lacking in substance IMO. I'd want a cannister to be more than 88gm personally. Diffusers seem fine. ADA ones are good as are the GLA ones - cost a bomb though. For pressurised systems the Rhinox range are pretty good value for money, and really good.
  12. If you have after market lights, and do not use the stock hood + lights, I'd stick those stumps up vertically so they pop out of the water. Then do as you please. Hatchets would probably jump out though Conchu blues are a pretty awesome fish. Black phantoms are really neat too; but if you want colour serpaes are a nice red.
  13. It's the one that is in my avatar. I'm tempted to get another but with a $200+ price tag I might wait for a while.
  14. Definitely no to the L168. Never in a million years, and there are only a few in the country any how. Apart from that, given adequate filtration you should be fine; but I would only have any one type of apisto, and furthermore only 1 male in that tank.
  15. windelov And I have been giving my tank a special fert treatment since I got the macrandra. Tank gets 15mL of comprehensive, 20mL of seachem trace, 30mL of excel + 2 DIY CO2 units with new diffusers (soon to be pressurised) The macrandra is the gem of my tank now and is growing 3-4cm per day!
  16. I have recently been changing the lay out of the tank very slowly. The plants have been getting some very special food! Here are the results so far.
  17. Sounds like your pet shop doesn't sell sand. Seriously tell the person to read up and learn something before dishing out incorrect advice. It really boils my blood.
  18. LIES. This is the next step in human warfare.
