2 - 2.5 is sexual maturity on average. That's partially why some plecos are more expensive. Take longer to mature, and some are pretty hard to breed. Having said that.. give mr.pleco a pleco and he'll breed it no sweat :lol: almost makes it look easy. Any how.. that's when you can see the physical differences more easily. Things like odontodes etc. The 'filling out' makes it look female, but the cranial structure resembles a male. Then again, L270 have never been my strong point.

They are wonderful, but notoriously hard to feed. The importer feeds them on live foods and occasionally bloodworms.

It's only little, so sexing is still a bit of a guess. Prob best done at 2+ years of age, but you should be able to vent sex it even at that size. Might be a bit hard, but is doable. I'm sure rabbit will have a thing or 2 to say as well.

The pink stock ones in the aq one tanks are powerglos. Those are good for plants. I have seen some dull pink ones and they are aq glos I think. Also good for plants. Plant growth - good colours are 6500K, 9000K, 10000K, (halides- 14000K), 18000K only if they are powerglos / plant pros. I'd be putting in 3 powerglos in that tank.

Customers turn pretty foul when they expect to get a pair and get 2 males. Then there are some that would expect a breeding pair if they are being sold as 'pairs' and not just a random male + female combo. That's how I understand it.

Those tanks are good for plants. Have a search through the forum and you'll find plenty posts about the lights on aq one tanks and how they are for plants Even the 620T does really well for plants. You have to choose suitable plants; so something like glosso would be unrealistic.

The one in the green packet. I usually throw the packet out and store the wafers in a container. They should love it. I have a female that takes off with them and hides them in a cave! :lol: Then she defends them all so I have to put more in the tank! Henward used to use bio gold. Again, I think it would be a great food. I was going to get some off ebay, but never got round to it.

I love the stuff. It's absolutely brilliant. The pleco tabs start some pretty mean hypan fights in my tank - right to the point where I had to remove some of the smaller species of hypans!

Looks good. Plants will take a few weeks to settle in and grow according to the conditions in your tank. A boisterous royal pleco will have a lot of rearrange in that tank! I'd be keeping a 10 hour photoperiod or so on the tank. PM me your address and I'll send you some of my ferts. Make sure you leave the lights on if you use them! I tend to over extend the life of my powerglos and plantpros but given the price of each one, I'll forgo perfect looking plants for a few more months use haha.

Yeah, they are quite shy if they are not in a large group; but if you have some surface cover and entice them with bloodworms they will settle in quite quickly! The males are very colourful!

That sounds like a sweet plan. I have contemplated popping a couple of halides on my tank instead of the T5HO, but then I have to work around the aesthetics etc. because I won't be buying a professional halide light. I'd probably have to settle for 10000K lights as well.
