  1. You've seen clown loaches in a 40L tank. They will be far from happy. Secondly, there is no justification for keeping a CL either singly, or in a 40L tank. It is poor advice, and should not be given to those that are new and learning from this hobby. You can try justifying it in any way you like, but that's how it is. It's wrong.
  2. ahha sweet... maybe morcs can take you for rides with the other people in their biker gang. PS- I use the word 'gang' loosely.
  3. little more to the left, but yeah! Just like that! you also need something poking upwards on the top LHS bit of the wood arrangement. Sigh. I want that tank.
  4. What sort? Nothing under an R6 counts....
  5. No. Not the last pic. I don't like that one. Second to last pic.
  6. Nah, I've bred discus before. Not my cup of tea  Chilodus punctatus
  7. 1st and 3rd is how you want it, only shifted more to the left. :nilly:  Once you have finished cleaning the glass completely, fill the tank all the way up, leaving a max of 1cm from the brim; add some java ferns to the wood.
  8. I think you spend too much time analysing what your fish are doing :nilly:
  9. RE: BARBEQUE/FISHCLUB MEETING (all the stuff in italics is my input). Apologies: Simon Present: Sandra, Aakash, Scottie,Tania, Stuart, Andrew , Anne-Marie, Shanika, Bubba and Brandon On Sunday, 30th January, the Central Fishkeepers members attended a BBQ at Sandras house. The day was a little windy, thanks to Cyclone Wilma (should be named Cyclone Aakash (AKA Kash)). There was talk (mainly the men) about the swimming pool being used as a great new cory breeding venture. After Kash’s car alarm had gone off a few times (deliberately by children) (nothing to do with the Maoris out the front), we feasted on Sandra's lovely cooking as Kash observed... very helpful input there... .. invaluable even. We debated the afternoon away, which was easy to do with Kash and Scotty. Such subjects as jaundice, strippers (not paint strippers), breeding and how not to breed. PM Scotty on details on “How not to Breed”. p44 then had this idea that he is only 22 years old, so with all the calculations we figured out that he is 23,turning 24 this September...Well all of us except Kash. He still believes he is 22! (Can you believe he works in a bank that I will not name, COUGH COUGH) I feel very ripped off. An entire year snatched away in 2 seconds :tears: --> I'll have you know that I might not be able to remember my age but I have no problems analysing and manipulating the most complicated financial data and solving financial calculations. :nilly: No plans for the next meeting, so will be held at the Highbury Whanua Centre as usual. Any ideas welcome!!! Until next time, take care and See Ya!!! A BIG thankyou to Sandra for being such a Great Host and Chef, and everyone for bringing food. PS: Thanks Tania and Scottie for travelling to share the fun with us all and for the free beer (New World came through and replaced the whole box, so BIG “UPS” to them....) Thanks Anne-Marie for the write up! Also, I just noticed no one brought me tim tams. :tears: Looks like i'll have to carry my own from now on
  10. My new headstander. 5 more to arrive this week. !drool:
  11. Diffusers have them built in. Usually running at 1-2bps.
  12. Ah. I thought the bugs go in there on their own because there is some sort of bait attracting them :dunno:
  13. I know! It's crazy! There are 50 or more in the tank now, and there are times where I see only about 20-30 of them. Maybe If I up numbers to 100 it'll look a bit better. Pics of your cardinals!
  14. I don't get how it works  Not very DIY inclined here; but you could write an article for Caryl! :happy1:
  15. Got a marbled head stander to try the other day. Will have 6 in this tank now. They should arrive on Thursday. Then I can progress with mission cardinal
  16. It is TODAY!!!! :happy1: I even woke up early and will only be fashionably late.
  17. secret plant. It's there. Not much growth, few leaves here and there. couple of tiny pups on the affinis. Nothing spectacular really.
  18. I linked to a PFK article about it. All the nutrients that the discus milk contains. 27 proteins or something like that.
  19. You gotta spend money at some stage or the other. Not everything is going to be free in life. You must excuse most of us on here who have been around for a while fish tank... We have seen far too many people join up on here hoping to take advantage of people's good intentions and gestures. Not saying you are one of them; but there are a lot of people that have undoubtedly shattered faith in the goodwill system.
  20. All gone today. If any one wants wriggler discus they can have them for free; but raising them away from the parents will produce weaker fish.
  21. If it fits it'll be fine.
