  1. what is the weird, stumpy yellow thing? I like it
  2. damn  Any other suggestions? I feed them peas too
  3. Thanks man... Africans have such interesting traits. they go dark, and chase each other in circles; the dems are forever schooling together. they eat like little piggies. I'm thinking of feeding them lettuce soon. At the moment they pretty much eat courgettes, cucumber, carrots and spirulina flakes. At night they get some hikari as I need them to get used to a varied diet. The e. yellows grow so much faster than the dems!
  4. lol.. yeah.. I increased the pH of the brine water to 8 and chucked some salt in and presto - 24 hours and there is more shrimp than i can use
  5. lol.. awesome. :bounce: if i get seeds ill put them with daltons in their own tank with good lighting.
  6. i got them to eat it eventually :bounce: . i had to turn off my filters cause all the shrimp were being flung around the place. only thought id feed it to them to try it out, got given some eggs. how often do you think is ok? Once a month maybe? the fish love courgettes and cucumber! its incredible how they devour that stuff! And a video of how I managed to feed them the BS.
  7. tracytrout does pic 5 look familiar?
  8. oh. sigh. i want them all. except for maybe 2 - 3 of them.
  9. I'd like to place an order on behalf of living art for one of each type of aro, and 6 of the rays.
  10. I can see it forming NaNO2 quite happily. thus blocking Nitrite toxicity, as there are no Nitrite free ions swimming about. I think.
  11. nice pics stella. if you want to know what those fish were that attacked based on colour and shape - the book is Campbell Biology - I used it during my 1st year vet studies. Its definitely available in the library a massey.
  12. Look at my baby shrimp! There are so many of them. Im thinking ill have to sieve them and freeze them or something, cause the fish are too big to eat the brineshrimp - only a couple managed to see them and eat some any other way i can make them eat it? Thanks for the help in advance!
  13. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Happy Birthday :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: some of us have to study today  - but that's alright you have a great day ha ha
  14. make sure you document everything!
  15. I don't mean to sound mean or any thing, I just appreciate the science behind such behaviours. Fish in the wild also defend their territories against males of the same species sometimes; interesting to see if bullies also use sight to differentiate between the sexes in their species. Interestingly enough some fish (i forget the name, it was in my old biology book, it had red on it) recognised not only body shape; but also the where the colouration on the dominant male was. the males are aggressive towards each other, to defend their territories - but the males only went for the correct fish based on the body shape of the fish, and the location of the red patch.
  16. if people like stella didn't document these behaviours we would never be able to learn about how, why, or when such behaviours occur.
  17. shouldnt females be a bit thicker when looked at from above?
  18. :bounce: :bounce: that "sure" must have taken a while.
  19. third flower? wow. that's amazing man. good on ya. well good on your flower, ha ha. jeepers. well if you get seeds this time can you send me some? i may try my luck and see if it works. PS- I like your colours
  20. right you are. we used dark blue stuff like you described in an apartment for the same reasons.
  21. they all come in peace  i had at various stages : royals, pinochio (Spelling??), reds, some weird flat brown ones.. etc.. all peaceful Pinocchio's were my favourite (that's what the list called them any how- they have long noses).
