  1. local landscaping place. cheap as chips. no need to stick them down, just stack them sensibly and you shouldnt have a problem. small pieces used as support. or you could get some schist and stick the pieces together and form a structure that suits your liking - araldite will work. im imagining something like an obelisk?
  2. i used schist. has no effect on the pH. the angels were not at all skittish with all the rock work either which was great. Hairgrass grows tall too, unless you get your hands on the less common dwarf variety.
  3. go for rocks with them. i had my angels in there for a few days without the other fish in my new tank and it looked really unique and cool. not something you'd expect to see.
  4. don't hack it!!! lol.. its awesome! that's it. im going to come and visit you in the holidays. you can take me to alll the shops down there :bounce:
  5. I think your tanks are fine.
  6. looks AWESOME! will you ever put black gravel in there? I love your echinodorus (spelling??_)!
  7. what is the thickness of the glass?
  8. I think it would look awesome in my tank  No but seriously. I cant wait to see your creation in a tank up and running. Don't worry much about the algae. GAE's are awesome at cleaning algae and a soft toothbrush can be used to remove the stubborn stuff.
  9. Those platies are so awesome, I think im going to get a few for a small tank i have lying around  what's the pH in the tank? oh and did you manage to source some hygrophilia polysperma and indian fern?
  10. is this tank a 3footer? hmm. what sort of cannister filter do you have? your airstone idea will work. if your filter creates good flow just shove a heater where you plan, and though it may not be as efficient as normal - with the airstone and the filter turning over the tank volume many times an hour your tank would be uniformly heated.
  11. do you have to spray them with water each day? or is it naturally humid in there?
  12. you will never know until you try. i say give it a go and learn something valuable along the way. the background looks great!

Fish as basic as this should be identifiable by a shop IMO. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/sp ... ies_id=148 good link and info for it. maybe the person in the shop just didn't know and made a mistake. sexing isn't usually possible until they are much much larger, and even then it can be quite tricky according to planetcatfish. I wouldn't even attempt hazarding a guess lol.
  14. then i am jealous of you too! haha i love GBA's

  17. Hi again Sam :bounce: Here is a pic of my old m&f pair male on the left, and female on the right.
  18. Look who came to pig out for a bit today. It is so out of character for these guys not to eat small fish, but he leaves even the smallest of lumphead cichlids alone, and they swim by his side and eat up all the fragments of food he throws around.

  20. you don't want to know
  21. Hi Sam, There are some on here that have both Riccia, and Glosso. For glosso PM "Supasi" and see if he has any left. Most stores don't stock those plants because of the level of care they require. But you should have no problems getting some on here Do you know why the other plants are dying? what's happening to their leaves? I always took more care of my plants than my fish; they make a tank look sooo good.
  22. is there more than one colour available for dolomite?
  23. Many thanks! Im so happy with all the fish I have managed to get till today. All the new fish are 100% off people from here. :bounce:
  24. That number sounds incredibly familiar. not 100% sure though.
