  1. it is on the list. well.. that's what they say it is. hmm. i shall have to re visit the list and see what i ordered in. alan - could you please show me the real tropica. Im new to java ferns and the different types have me confused. windelov is frilled java fern yes? so what is tropica? and then what is what I have? - the poseidon trident leaf one. and then what is the normal one? many thanks!
  2. is yours tropica, the normal or windelov? I have windelov as well - that is picking up too thankfully. This plant has characteristic poseidon trident shaped leaves. those are branching off. they automatically detach once they are old and big enough - then float away and attach them selves to something.
  3. mine is finally doing it split leaf job. :bounce: little fuzzy roots are sprouting out of the leaves as well
  4. lack of phosphorous causes holes in the leaf. bit weird about the sag getting holes though.
  5. just shove some fine filter wool in your filter, or make a pre filter (use the search function on here for more info) and you should be good to go.
  6. ok. so you can try planting your tank if you have good lighting. that makes the tank look good too. Indian fern is an attractive plant that absorbs nutrient through the roots, as do some others. failing which get some phoszorb - remember to activate it. you have to fill water in the container it comes in and close the lid with the pouch in it, for about 10 minutes. it is an exothermic reaction so the container will become quite hot. then you take the pouch out, remove the excess debris and put it in your filter. if you are 100% sure that its the phosphate that is causing the algae bloom this is one way to fix the problem. I prefer the plant method. phosphates in my tank were about 50-80ppm and i did not have a shred of algae. if the problem is caused because of another nutrient imbalance, then bio chem-zorb may help. I personally don't use either as I have not needed it.
  7. so why do you want to remove the phosphate from the freshwater aquarium? did you have a lot of algae in the tank?
  8. That's like slapping me in the face!     naah man, the 05 series fluvals are not cheap to feel at all. if at all the hardness-brittleness of the green colour (see through eheim ones only) cannisters makes me scared of dropping them.
  9. they are supposed to crush the eheim 3 pros! i hope they come here, ill definitely have to get me one of them. no need to hide it too. its magnificent!
  10. congrats! you may have to start breeding discus as well now! :bounce:
  11. YOu still have to cycle your tank! THat water has just been passed through a mega big carbon filter.

    3 foot tank

It may work with CO2 and ferts. personally I would have only put sag. subulata in it and that's it. let it grow all over the tank like a jungle. It can get upto 60cm high in the right conditions.

    ah. that looks amazing!
  15. all the plants you want are on the list. rotala should be about 3bucks a bunch $5 or near that for glosso $6 for hair grass Mosses are around the $5 mark crypts can vary from $4 - $20+
  16. give it time and it will start growing submersed leaves. good light. nutrient - plant basics.
  17. yeah. there are a lot of issues with importing plants. apart from IDing them and stuff. most plants are purchased cheaply so that they can be sold at $2each. the more expensive plants tend not to sell, or appeal to only a few people so its not really profitable to get them in. still if there is something you want or like speak to who ever orders the plants in at your LFS and ask them if they know if a certain plant is on the list. most wholesalers are pretty good at selling the right plant, but more often than not - they are grown emersed.
  18. oh that's not good. ive never heard of media raising the pH. (not counting the cocnrete i use). can you post the tm link for it please?
  19. I shall have a hunt around the systems when I go in next :bounce: Do you know what the brand is?
  20. where can I get them from? google has nothing
  21. The most important thing is that cockateils are seed eaters and loris as you know are not. The difference in diet is why people don't normally mix the two. The cockateil won't like another bird with it if it has a mirror - sounds like a typical possessive bird. Lorikeets are pretty hard to cure if they get a disease too.
  22. I was wondering what you were doing crushing a furan capsule HAHAHA

    Hi

hi, skippy. welcome. your nitrate is fine
  24. if you open the furan capsule and remove the powder - that will dissolve in water really easily. warm water works best.
