  1. the eheim 300W is suitable for use up to 1000L. I think it has something to do with how massive the coil is. I dont know why, but good on them for doing it that way
  2. There are too many variables with livestock. Transit could have shocked them, stress could have killed them, and even the change in water conditions between the store and your tank could have been enough for them. your first step would be to see if their rams are still alive and healthy. if they are alive it may not be their fault; but if they are dead then they should oblige??? I highly doubt they would care... ___ sorry to hear about them dying too.
  3. both. it could be that the parents of this fish were in a tank with more than one type of zebra in it. it could also be that someone has deliberately bred this little fella - or conversely it could have just been an accident.
  4. It's definitely an african zebra of some sort. This is a dwarf flag:
  5. Am I good at getting a reaction or what? phoszorb and all the other "zorbs". nothing bad happens. fish are fine. UV- sterilizers - fish dont die. CL's in particular love it- dunno why, they play with it. - by far the most effective. Plants - my favourite method - suck up all the extra nutrient. block out light - i don't like doing this. it agitates me when i cannot look into the tank  green X - works well with no side effect too.
  6. looks like a rainbow fish to me as well. it could have been introduced with new plants. their eggs are sticky and very resilient.
  7. Awesome stuff man! :bounce: Let me know if they make it.
  8. or is is algae rid. lots of cases where people have had their fish die overnight. in one case this guy lost over $2000 over night in livestock. there are plenty other ways to get rid of algae
  9. make sure you don't buy algae clear. ask for the phosphate levels to be tested, and then the nitrate levels. further, block some light out of your tank
  10. dunno how long it will take. I dont know a lot about java ferns to be honest. they don't like as much light as I am willing to give them

female mice and rats are genetically predisposed to getting tumours, as they all came from a very small population of domesticated lab rats and mice that were deliberately experimented on to give them cancers and tumours. over time the gene pool was not altered - as that is what they were bred for. That's why they get tumours. particularly females.
  12. it is unfortunately what I am thinking too. course you have just got it, so feed him on colourbits and in some time you will be able to tell.
  13. Sam those are bolivian rams, and not blue or golden rams; or in this case electric blue rams (who comes up with these names any way???). blue rams are Mikrogeophagus ramirezi
  14. oops. that was a bit rude of me. what I meant to say is that, there may be some females around so fingers crossed that there are good pairs here. there are not many females in other countries.
  15. Since their debut at the Singapore show the creators have only tried to release the males. I will be ordering some in at some stage - perhaps once the craze has died down a bit.

The amount of 95% furan I would have to ingest to start showing signs of cancer is sooo high that im actually more afraid of getting skin cancer cause of the sun. good to be cautious though, I personally would not go all out and protect my self from "exposure" pS- i unfortunately do not have the packaging for furan as i bought the commercial pack a while ago.

Nitrofurazone is used on horses all the time! Now i shall go do some readings and make a few calls
  18. that's just the way plants work. if you crop them - then the entire plant gets light again and will keep growing. if the tank becomes dark cause all the upper leaves are blocking the light; then the base of the plants may wither away. the underwater lights are not of the correct spectrum to sustain plant growth.
  19. oh sorry. I meant staff that do think along the lines of, yes lets learn - come on here, and never come back. they read all this terrible stuff, know that they will only ever be seen as "pushy sales people" and so they leave.
  20. yeah, and those that want to come and learn read all the negativities and don't come back. its a sad fact.
  21. just crop your plants, and then sell the cuttings or give them off on here. I know there are a few who are hunting for ambullia. those submersible lights are not for plants - merely aesthetic.
  22. define "easier" ha ha. if you cant grow glosso - best not to try this. I am not aware of it being here, if it is I would like to register my interest in some. it is a north american plant is it not?
