  1. they prove no risk. none at all. if by some freak of nature they do survive in the cold water ways, consider it a figment of your imagination. I wait for these guys to be available here.
  2. raise that temp to 28 or so. aerate water. white spot cure or what you are using and salt, and that should get rid of it... oh and time. best of luck
  3. that sucks. so what about s. subulata - can they tell them apart? what about s. microfolia?
  4. he is doing well.. now rehab and then he can be released once that wing heals.
  5. yeh, its all good though. those pics are only what i would have linked to on here already plus maybe a couple of others here and there. no biggie. stalk away ha ha ha

  7. an fx5 would be overkill, but a 405 would not. I have 2 405's on my 200L 4ft tank. works amazingly.

apparently stella (native queen here) says that they will die in higher temps as they are used to the cold water streams here in NZ. need a cooler to keep them happy in NZ summers in a tank!

hey, its narrow leaf indian fern that has been given a blasting of blue light to regulate the way it grows. It was then exposed to a whole range of light spectra a make it grow in that way instead of its usual wild manner. As far as I know there are no FW tropical shrimp that are available for the aquarium trade.

what about dipped in red ink or food colouring? PS- ppl do not dip shrimp in food colouring!
  20. yeh. looks a bit better. the newer fins will initially have no colour.
  21. I would actually be more concerned with the saliva than the wound itself.have you done the hydrogen peroxide treatment to disinfect? (or something similar?) vetadine is good, and i would continue with that. A calcium supplement at this time would be good too.. that is one tough cookie.

I think any freshwater shrimp in NZ needs really cool water. I know they cannot handle tropical water. if those were in salt water, then they wont live in freshwater - and it would have to be a cold water marine tank too. maybe I can spare you a cherry shrimp? (I lie I have no cherry shrimp)
  23. that really sucks! sorry to hear about it
