I just leave them to it. if the female is strong enough she will survive. the babies have to survive and hide in the tank if they want to live  it works really well. now where is that sad violin playing emoticon?
18000K tubes are power glos.
if they are not power glos, they are not 18000K. (EDIT- aqua glos are also 18000K - forgot that one)
morcs- that tube is so dull im thinking it is not 18000K - not unless its made by someone i don't know about -which is totally possible.
Yes. I am not known to make life any easier
We do have blue dempseys here. they cost about $80 each. At least with them you can have some plants in the tank.
with severums you cannot. they like eating and uprooting plants. and re arranging a perfectly arranged tank.
you can have a few to start off with; they are not as aggressive as their normal coloured cousins. Not 100% sure about the severums though. I'd like to think they would be ok, but I think to grow them to their prime you may need a larger tank. Not totally sure though.
I love the clowns. they are possibly one of my favourites. them and that monstrosity you brought over to the killi show. i like that too.
its a pity they jump!
creating mist in the tank. it looks amazing in a planted tank. little bubbles all over the leaves. looks like pearling!
the closest ive come to it, is attaching an air tube to a powerhead, and letting one bubble in at a time.
Back in the day (like 7 years ago) we used to get wooden air stones that cost the earth.
they were used in marine tanks and the bubbles were really really tiny. looked like mist.
Im not sure if they can be used in freshwater though. But i do know that i had to replace them in my marine tank every 12 months or so.
for an oscar i would say your minimum size tank should be 4.5ft X 1.5ft X 1.8ft
for a longer term thing, 5ft long and possibly even 2ft wide would create a huge footprint.
a jardini yes, but a silver aro probably not for the long term.
best to get something wider than 2 ft too.
8 foot long ideally.
they get BIG  and fast.
im actually surprised you didnt get quoted 5k or more, like I did on my car. if you were male you definitely would have been given that quote. what is third party cover like?
call vero and speak to them. they have some pretty cool extras you can add on to a third party fire and theft cover.
Untrue regarding the sensitivity. Many assume CL's don't have scales just because they cannot be seen; and this apparent lack of scales makes them scale-less and thus very sensitive to meth blue and other ich treatments. In reality the only part of the CLown Loach that does not have scales is the head. They have very small scales all over the rest of their body. So don't worry about half dosing with Clowns, they are among the hardiest fish I have ever kept!
