big frogs will be ok. little whistlers could get caught by the larger flowers. the venus fly trap has a memory and can count, so as long as a frog does not go up to it, poke it three times on its sensors- i hardly think it will get caught in one. I am unsure if the power of a frogs leg would be less than that of a closing fly trap. (imagine if the frogs leg is sitting in the trap [and not the entire frog that would hopefully be bigger than the flower]).

have you tried using salt as well?

trademe has the normal t5's shops will have the t5 HO's. muchly expensive though, considering the tubes have to be purchased separately.

omg capslock! (it means you are screaming at us) you may consider upping the photoperiod. ie. leave your lights on longer. 11+ hours per day. so 8am onwards till night time is good. Replace one of the 4900K tubes with a 10000K tube (in the centre). If 4900K is white, replace all of them with 10000K tubes. I am partial towards the power glos - but they come with a rather hefty price tag as opposed to the $5 10000K tubes :lol: so you can also use powerglos (18000K) if you choose to do so. swords will like having some calcium where the roots are. were the plants you bought emersed or submersed?

if you get t5 HO's - they come with metal suspension things. or MH's.

not really going to make much of a difference I'd say. I feed mine hikari chchlid gold, aro pellets, spirulina flakes, colourbits, and other cichlid food.. etc... they don't really eat the pleco food but they have fun trying to break the tablets. they do like cucumber though. especially the seeds.

post a pic of your tank. tell us how high and long the tank is, what sort of tubes you have and how many(and size) - and also the spectrum of the light. what sort of substrate are you using, and what sort of plants are you trying to grow. thanks.
