  1. try telling a 14 year old that, and its showing off  I think the puppy is cute never-the-less.
  2. its actually rotundifolia! yeah I just put some peroxide on there about 10 mins before taking the pics.
  3. You wouldn't want 14000K unless you had corals.
  4. and what will you grow under 14000K?
  5. Update! Slight Algae that I am over coming now. Lots of CO2 and lots of happy happy plants! The puffers are still in there... somewhere...
  6. not at all. they are dumb and stupid and take their time when they are larger. until you have about 40+ in a tank and feed them fresh beef heart. Then its an all out feeding frenzy
  7. possibly a little redder in real life... its a nice muddy red. sorta like FeO2  Order it from your closest shop! should be between $144.95 - $175.00 HITH thing is a total myth. Angel is in Wellington now, but ive always kept angels and discus together and have never regretted it. I think the real wild ones carry a parasite that feed off the discus which is no good. I think you would have to worry about aggression and food competition more than any thing else.
  8. eh! what puffers are those>?
  9. angels are cichlids. do you mean other s. american cichlids, or african cichlids. if so, what lake? or is it cichlids from another continent?
  10. awesome. the pure white one would be my favourite! that and the other white one with the blue bits. and congrats on the EBR's looking really really good.
  11. They are really really good. Not bothered about the other ones, they just hang around together all day.
  12. Ì got plenty of spot algae.
  13. There was none! only he was very very upset when i left him behind. flatmate said he screamed the house down after I left. Sundays are his days. so he woke up, said hello to me, and then played with his toys. then i got ready, and he got ready too... had a bath and looked at me and said "finger". That means i have to pick him up and take him with me. Then i said not today buddy, cant come with me; fed the fish and he was waiting at the door so i picked him up, and put him back on his cage and gave him his favourite ball. Then i left and he got all worried. Then i got a txt saying the bird was very upset and screaming for me "Rusty.... Rusty... *insert angry lorikeet noise*" etc etc. he was so happy to see me in the evening, he pooped all over scottie and tania.
  14. That would be a very professional way of doing it, easy and no messing around. your standard business insurance should cover it too, and you should be able to depreciate it as a company related expense. Thus gaining a tax shield. I doubt you would be able to depreciate a DIY light hood, and for it to be insured it would need to be installed by a registered electrician.
  15. Echinodorus tenellus is occasionally available.. not in huge quantities, but you should not have a problem growing it if you have a hi tech setup, as is planned.
  16. I don't get it, but it doesn't matter any more
  17. I think t5 HO's will be fine, yes - but ill leave someone less biased to answer that question
  18. I think they were far too busy ooohh-ing and aaahh-ing at my hair.
  19. I know! :bounce: I am SOOOO happy to have found a really nice one without the $200+ price tag. and the brown / red rose one is $150 or so; so that's pretty good too considering no one is really breeding them (yet). Thanks! means a lot coming from you with your round plate sized discus!
  20. why does everyone have to copy amano or a set of rules written by someone else? leaves no place for one's own creativity! I know I'd appreciate someone else's creative ideas a lot more than something basically ripped off the net.
  21. Those sort of hoods are commonly used for marine setups. A point to consider is condensation. It is best to use a glass lid on the tank, even with a hood like that, and then make sure you design a drip plate if the tank does not already have one. course then you lose some of the light as it reflects off the glass, and passes through it, and then the water. With a tank that high, I do not think you can afford to lose any more light. For the display to look right, you will need the tank to be brighter than its surroundings, and that will be hard to achieve if you don't get lights that are powerful enough. if the tank is dimmer than the surrounding there is no point lighting the tanks. That is why ALL fish shops have the aquatic section dimly lit with the tanks well lit.
  22. may not believe this, but i saw a couple being sold as banjo catfish. I obviously bought them  but that would have been 4-5 years ago.
  23. awesome stuff!!! I pulled off a planted African tank, so see no reason why you cant Black background and its all done eh? Looks really nice!
  24. The standard bought lighting "units" will come with reflectors inbuilt. They always do. brands include arcadia, hagen and so on...
