  1. They do scatter eggs, and sexing is really really hard, but is easier to do with a confirmed pair. If any one was coming from TGA to here, I would as you know buy them off you.
  2. Ah, but that was BEFORE they were available
  3. can you use those nice wood chips (like in gardens) instead, or is that bad for them?
  4. they eat everything. even ate some moss i put there for the green effect! :-? No... I said YOU can't get them. I on the other hand...
  5. still can get! Im considering getting some now  breed them too. now I have found out my apple snails are Pomacea canaliculata. That means they get huge! like coke can huge!
  6. I am so happy Ive been keeping my snails for a while now, and feed them heaps of healthy stuff and meat and everything else  (leftovers etc). This morning, I woke up to the eggs I was hoping I would find one day. The poly sits on top of the tank, to keep the snails from going for a walk.... again.
  7. wow. that's pretty neat! it is either the alien or the predator
  8. I think the highest height is 2ft for those backgrounds. black is so much nicer
  9. Totally. Although the rock background is good. (its the only other one I would use). where did you see that? I imagine the insulation would be faaaarrrr better
  10. Discus usually are best bred between 1.5 - 3 years of age. you must be doing something right to have year old discus doing so well normally its best to let the parents raise the kids, discus milk and all... im sure you've read up etc.. basically clean tank, not too large, not too small. breeding cone, or filter inlet (my weapon of choice_ never fails) and a cold water change, dropping the temp by 2 degrees is usually enough to get them going once every 2 weeks or so.
  11. more to complain about then  would using media from an established filter help the algae phase speed up?
  12. The vinyl is behind the tank, not in the tank. (I like whiptails )
  13. German imports seem to be darker than what is normally imported, and have longer fin extensions. Those extensions are the smallest of my 3 new ones.
  14. I went to spotlight the other day to get some dacron; found none, but saw this vinyl roll that is 140 cm wide and sells for $18 per meter. I only needed half a meter so it cost me $9.00 This is what it looks like - Nice textured effect going on there. Makes fish nicer to photograph as well, but on the other side, makes them harder to photograph because of flash reflection. PS- I am very very upset at that male electric blue ram
  15. The last 2 pages basically have the same info repeated over and over again. :-? +1 (again)
  16. you probably want them getting used to eating algae.
  17. I add over 5 - 10 mL of flourish comprehensive every 2 days at the very least. tomorrow all the other equipment comes out, gets washed in h2o2 and then goes back.
  18. erm... its coming back! i have just seen it on the plastic bits in the tank. heater, powerhead, and filter in's and outs.
  19. they are sensitive to water conditions and quality. swings in water parameters are usually why they die.
  20. I found an apple snail I did not know I had on the floor behind my big tank yesterday. he is about 2-3 cm smaller than the other ones, so judging by that he would have had to have been on the floor for at least a month put him in the tank, and he came out eventually happy as ever.

    Pictus school?

I had 4 in a tank at one point. Never got around to 6 or 8. They were pretty cool, but ate everyone else's food.
