These ones have already maxxed out I think. Another one to look out for is panaque maccus - clown pleco and L140 pecklotia - big band tiger pleco as the suppliers call it. maccus cost $40 retail and L140 are about $140 - 150 each.
  6. left up to me, energy savers would not get a sticky  nothing hard about buying a warehouse light, putting a 6500K energy saver in it, and claiming it works

    ID Please?

    gold spot. they get massive.
  11. yes yes. what jen said is right.... kills algae.. kills plant cells... too much kills fish... catfish in particular. pity it works so darn well.
  12. tropical now... remember "plecos" does not narrow it down. there are hundreds of thousands of plecos, and thousands that match the description of stripey. look out for good deals for tanks on trademe, there are lots of bargains out there, or if you feel like it, put a nice tank on layby and pay it off slowly as a Christmas present or something like that. best of luck!!!
  13. maybe you need to use hydrogen peroxide... not all plecos grow big, and if they all ate plants they would not be in my tanks... if you do use hydrogen peroxide, dose the tank as long as you remove all the fish, and then add them back a couple days later. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the tail extensions on the royals. on of them has extensions that are as long as him.
  14. Well I found the renegade earthworm... was on page 74 of my big fat folder, still alive and well, so i out him back with his other worm buddies.
  15. take pics... (I did not hear the bit about chopping up fish.. la la la la la).
  16. So today I went shopping.... (such an expensive habit) got another 7 emerald cories / brochis splendis - that brings me up to 12 now. 4 of the new german imports of royal whiptails 2 "filamentosa" whiptails, although I suspect these are lancelotas -which I absolutely love.(aka. need more).

if you find my trademe auction for an extra fish that I have..(won't link here cause there is no need to, and its fish related).. you will notice i accept bottled ghosts as a valid form of payment.
  18. yeah, variety is paramount to keeping fish alive longer. That's why I've spent a fortune on all that fish food. good to feed them greens too.
  19. look, its a phase that is going to happen no matter what you do (or don't) do... if it bothers you that much rub the algae off with a tooth brush or something.. take the plants out clean them, and put them back.. GAE's and whiptails eat brown algae. My ottos loved brown algae.
