you could scream at it like a banshee and I doubt it would care less. It is a slow growing plant and if there is enough available nitrogen / nitrogenous compounds in the water, it will grow well.
you don't cut it all off.
if you have to make a thin incision that cuts half the root but not all of it.
Shoot and Root development made easy -
2 chemicals you need to worry about. auxin and cytokynin.
more auxin - shoot growth
more cytokynin - root growth
(EDIT) maybe its the other way around....
if you really want more leaves, change the position of the light - that will stimulate the auxin naturally and you will get a new shoot.
HTH. its not the most technical post, but if you google and research some more you can use applications of this concept in many areas of plant growth.
If you want to keep the plants 'alive' you can use the energysavers like sam said.
if you do, buy the phillips bulbs as they are the best in that range.
use eheim pro II (substrat pro II) in the bottom two / three, and carbon in the top. I used carbon cause it polishes the water and keeps it crystal clear, and makes the tank look instantly nicer with those sort of fish.
that is blue hygrophilia still in its emersed form.
This is what it is like in my tank.
It will sustain itself under the light mentioned above, as will some other plants - but won't flourish and grow like wild fire. In fact no plants will grow like wild fire under that light.
it works according to the density of water. saltier the water, the more dense it is, the higher the hydrometer floats.
PS- at that price + shipping, its easier to get it from a shop.
they are pretty nasty them selves. mr. puff does not seem overly concerned with anything but other mr. puffs. hopefully he is alite with ms.puffs
yeap. horribly illegal, and the penalties are hefty.can't keep em, store em, catch em, release em... nothing...
kill them i suppose. feed them to your oscars...
don't get me started on the koi
damn, that really sucks. he is really pretty. sometimes birds come back to where they know so leave his cage outdoors with food and water, and he may surprise you.
I hope you get him back.
