  1. Not in a 34L tank! In a 34L tank you'll just have to pluck the snails out.
  2. No Idea. I occasionally get a small patch of it growing in-between the glass and the foreground plants. It does not spread and is easy as ever to remove. I think it is possible for it to grow in harmony in some tanks if a balance is reached.
  3. Cyano. It is still at a very early phase at the moment, so I would remove all of it manually and hope to hell it does not come back. If you have a UV steriliser - switch it on. If it spreads like wild fire, and it sometimes does; antibiotics get rid of it as it is a bacteria despite the common name of blue green algae.
  4. I do not think he would appreciate that. But needless to say he left deposits on everyone who dared to have him on them  That was a fun meeting followed by a few people who came home to see the fish, plants and babies.
  5. Rusty will be there too. Keep your handee towels ready :-?
  6. juwel 180 or larger or aquaone 980. I like the tubes in the aquaone tanks. great for plants. Juwels are abv better but more expensive. The sun sun ones look fine but i don't know about the tubes. I do know that the aq one and sun sun have T8s.
  7. They can change colour to a certain degree; mainly to aid in camouflage.
  8. yeap the foreground plant is possibly s. microfolia. If it gets very large it is s. subulata, but judging by the colour i would say microfolia. Apart from that its just java fern and the Uruguayensis. That circled Java fern looks beautiful where it is so I wouldn't crop it unless it is branching out and actually causing a mess. I love 620/Ts. They are such a neat tank
  9. can you post a picture? It sounds very weird that's for sure.
  10. Thanks KP. But now everyone knows who the pic belongs to
  11. maybe.. but the plant is not cheap. I have paid $20 for a specimen that was only 6cm high with about 8-10 leaves... and that was wholesale. worth everypenny though, but at the time I didn't know how to grow it. It does best under a daylight spectrum light and not any thing very fancy. High light is important too.
  12. Wouldn't surprise me
  13. Uruguayensis is possibly the most beautiful sword plant there is that is purely green in colour. It's just called uruguayensis sword plant. How big is this plant as it is not particularly easy to grow? Do you have any pics?
  14. Hot water from a kettle could break the glass. so edge on the side of caution there.
  15. 'poor breeding' as determined by a fish that when found (be it rare) in the lake looks any thing but yellow. The colours there look perfectly fine to me. They are not picture perfect like what firenzenz has but masking is fairly common in dominant males. You will find that the masking magically vanishes if the fish is not part of a colony. There is an article by Konings but you have to pay USD4 to get access to it. http://www.cichlidae.com/article.php?id=188 more articles - http://www.sydneycichlid.com/electric-yellow.htm http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/l_caeruleus.php
  16. I would leave it until perhaps this evening, and then catch her and see what you can do. It'll most likely pop out as they do their thing during the day. congrats on the spawn too
  17. syno euptera is what an upside catfish normally is. They grow fast, and get relatively large. I usually get mine at about 2cm and they kinda look like cories at that stage. In a few weeks his colours should set in and then we will be able to give you a proper ID. nigriventris stay small and are considered the real and true upside down catfish and remain very small. They are very shy and do well in groups, and even then remain relatively reclusive.
  18. Where can you buy TLC products from? I've heard a lot about them but never seen them for sale here.
  19. Are you using the stock eheim tubing and pipes?
  20. it looks kinda like staghorn algae
  21. you could have used tepid water.
  22. I hate staghorn with such a passion.
