  1. Rather than having a brace running front to back across the centre of the tank, you could have two braces running left to right along the front and back panel of glass. I tried Googling for a pic but couldn't find one...
  2. So by your logic, pohutakawa forests are now the possums environment and we shouldn't be poisoning them? And as for "trampling it down", are you suggesting mankind should just stick to the concrete paths they have made and leave the rest of the world untouched and undiscovered?
  3. LOL their environment? Where do you think all aquarium fish come from? Somewhere along the line someone had to go out into the wild and catch them. As long as you're respectful to the environment and to the population of fish then its all good.
  4. How big are the crickets, do you want to sell them?? Is there anyone breeding insects that is serious opposition to biosupplies yet?? They've been good to us, but their prices for crickets/locusts are just too much for regular feeding!
  5. I find that very hard to believe, I bet if there were dogs or cats being kept there in unacceptable conditions they'd be there in a flash.
  6. When I took the centre brace off my 3' tank I cut it in half first so I could move each half separately and that made it a heap easier. What you should do is get a couple of strips of glass cut so you can put 'euro-style' bracing on, then you'll be able to get the wood out again.

    Help!!!!

    What are the water parameters??
  8. On this topic, when I set up my 5', I got a bunch of random tetras from Hollywood that a customer had dropped off and they couldn't be bothered sorting. I acclimatised them and dumped them in the tank and with in seconds there were three distinct schools (lemons, xrays, and neons) from about 8 to 20 in number all swimming in different directions doing their own thing. I wish I'd taken a photo now!
  9. Get the SPCA onto them before its too late for the next one! Good to see your guy is recovering well.
  10. I'd get rid of all the various little fish and get one school of around 30 of the same species instead of having 1-4 of several different species.
  11. A few more pics, still blurry but show the colours well...
  12. Good to hear, glad it hasn't put you guys off at all!!
  13. Ah the 90's, jeez I must be getting old if people are having "90's parties"... ripped and faded jeans + flannel shirt + long blonde scraggly hair would be easy to do, then you could look like me or Kurt Cobain...
  14. I'd be keen to see the Koenigsegg, but not much else. I haven't been for years...
  15. Stone and Water World in Marua Rd in Auckland. Shipping would be a killer, maybe make a post asking if anyone is driving down and see if you can arrange to meet them somewhere.
  16. It could be a good xmas for bargaining and getting good deals on stuff, retail sales are predicted to be much lower than previous years so the power is with the buyer.
  17. My sister did the exact same thing, and I think thats a perfect example of why a universal allowance is a stupid idea (thank goodness its not going to happen now!). The only motivation for her to pay it back is the temptation to leave here for a high paying job in the UK which would mean she'd be charged interest on it, but the pay rise she would get would more than cover the interest...
  18. My GF has a huge student loan ($40k+ from 4 years of study to become an accountant) and paying it back is about the lowest priority for us, behind saving for a house, going on holiday and buying arowanas. There's no point because we won't gain anything by paying it off faster than the minimum, we'd rather save to get a house and them pay off the mortgage asap while the student loan just ticks away at the minimum amount. Shot Luke for being able to afford a place in Auckland at your age!!!
  19. Haha! Damn fish won't sit still, and I didn't want to spook it by cleaning the glass, and there's not enough light on the tank for a good pic. The camera is great (Sony H10) but the person operating it, and the setting, isn't...
  20. Pfft, tui. I've just celebrated with a couple of ice cold Summer Ales. More pics! It just ate some cichlid gold too!!
  21. My boss is the president of the Auckland Conchology Society, if you can post a pic or two I'm sure he'll be able to ID it and tell you something about it.
  22. I see where you're coming from and understand fully. In your first post it sounded like you envied their wealth, but now I see you're disliking them because they're rich w****rs. I know the feeling all too well...
  23. I'm allowed, I didn't stipulate the prize before he won!
  24. Once you've got money its easy to make money. Instead of upping their mortgages for landscaping and "life" your friend possibly took a gamble and upped theirs for their first rental. TBH it sounds like a bit of jealousy to me. If you don't like someone because they have flash cars or because they're more successful than you then what kind of friend are you? I'm sure if it was the other way round (not liking them because they're poorer than you) you wouldn't have even made the post. [no offence or anything, I'm hardly loaded myself...]
