I was just saying in regards to the Angels as he said that there were more like this... So I said what one I know of. and also you said "its the pigmentation that gives something its markings in the first place" Which is what we were talking about and stating some ones that are an exception. And also what you said Aquatopia seemed like it was in regards to all fish not just corys when you said about how it wouldnt have any markings.
-
But albino kribensis still have patterns on the just not pigmented. So they don't have pigment of course but they can still have patterns.

My 3rd one is starting to get a bit of red around his mouth now, just in the sucking area. ha Olly did it infect any other fish or just your G bristlenoses? Did you ever find out what it was or if it can be treated?
-
oh no really? I just caught one to take more photos but When I photograph they actually come out their lovely golden colour. I so hope they don't die. I just caught one again, and he couldn't smell off that I could smell they just smelt like fish which don't smell very nice anyways
-
Do they almost look like bubbles or water blisters? I read somewhere a little while ago about if you do a big water change it can almost give them the bends? like what divers get when they dive to far and to fast. Or like when you catch a snapper and its tummy is in its mouth. Kind of like a pressure shock. I could be completely wrong but Im sure I read it somewhere. Someone will correct me im sure Just I found it very interesting so now I always do my water changes real slow.

You may want a bristlenose in their as well as a bottom feeder and to keep things a bit cleaner. Kuhli Loaches do pick up some scraps which helps keep things cleaner but they don't clean the glass, Keep in mind aswell they probably won't be seen to often, We have a few and I can't member the last time I saw any as they dig into our gravel and under ornaments. Golden Bristlenoses are one of my favourites - Although I think they are expensive at the fish shops so you may want to see if anyone on here has any they would be willing to give you for cheaper. I have 4 at the moment but am growing them up to breed. If you want a couple once they have breed let me know but that will probably be atleast 6 months away as they still little.

They are very happy, I know the photos don't fully show it 2 of the ones noses have gone really red. Im not really worried cause they are happy as usual but just wanted to know if its normal for their noses to go red/pink. It almost looks they they got their noses too close to the heater but We have a heater guard and a heater that isn't currently turned on which they love to hang around so it's definatly not a burn since it ain't going

Here are some photos. They are a lot pinker than the photos show. By rochellemay, shot with DSC-W50 at 2009-04-28 Under the shadow of the plant you can slightly see the redness and at the top of its head. By rochellemay, shot with DSC-W50 at 2009-04-28 This one isn't as visible but if you look closely you can see the colour change on the middle of his nose. Look forward to seeing what you have to say? And kind of nervous to I hope theyre ok.

Ummm, I dont have an O2 test kit, I just have your normal Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite,pH one and CO2 (although I don't have CO2 in my tank but Dad does so I can use it if need be) But we have lots of air bubbles and a surface breaking filter - if its lack of O2, or could it be too much O2? Will post photos shortly just need to charge my camera battery I tried with Cellphone but it wasn't so good. They still eatng away and being normal. I did a normal 25% water change
-
Hey guys, Just wanting to know if it is normal for My Golden Bristlenose to get a pinkish nose? I have 3 babies about 4-5cm and 2 of them have a pink nose and when you look closer it just looks like lots of blood running through their veins in the nose. They are just doing their normal thing but looked realy Pink. All the other fish are fine, if their was anything wrong with the water the discus are first to show signs and they sit at the back under the filter so I don't think its the water at all. But will check tommorow. Hope you can give me some insight into this, Im not too worried at the moment cause they do look happy with all the other fish... unless you tell me otherwise... Thanks in Advance.

I'm sure there will be room for a pleco or three, hopefully you have some cool ones available when it comes time to stock

The mollie babies were going well and then unfortunately disappeared :-? we still have a lot of the little platties on the go though

I can't stand the fact that an internet provider has phoned me nearly daily in the last few weeks and still does not get the fact that no one can beat my internet connection service and cost. Also that I have to drive my brother to work everyday and pick him up just because I can't say no, even though it is his fault he crashed and lost his license and is to lazy to bike or bus. But I as always manage to pull it all together for him and everyone and keep them organise as I am reliable. Phew Thanks for the vent I feel so much better. Not sure if it was suppose to be a vent thread, but thats what I have been wanting to say for a few days

Do you have a air stone in your tank? To help circulate and oxygenate the water. When I had an ammonia spike I was told to do daily water changes to keep it down until it had passed then go back to doing my regular water changes every 3-4 days and also temporarily use ammo lock as it will make the ammonia less toxic to the fish. From what I understand the ammonia is still present (thats where water changes come in) but it just causes less harm. Correct me if im wrong - what LFS recommended. Best ofluck. -
Great looking fish, looks particularly awesome in the third pic

Last attempt to have a Fish Tank! Please Help!!
RochelleMay replied to mark1078's topic in Beginners Corner
I fully agree with a small heater and going for the tropical fish. I had always tried keeping goldfish but like yourself they always died, then we went for a tropical tank and it is so easy once your all set up you just need to keep up the water changing routine. Let us know if you decide on tropical or coldwater Do you ever travel to auckland or near it? We have some Platties which are still quite little so you can watch a couple of them grow up. But I unfortunatly dont have supplies to post them . But if your ever up these ways let me know or if your interested Next time I got to my batch in Rotoma I can brng some down. Although that'll be a while away -
You could also possibly buy some garlic guard and soak every 2nd or so meal in it for all of your other fish, to boost their immunity against worms etc... I know my Dad had some worm in his fish and lost a couple but now does every2nd meal soaked in garlic guard for the past year with no problems and the fish love it. They get more excitied over the garlic guard food then plain stuff He mushes all the flakes and pellets in it. and then puts a couple drops onto the vege discs. Best of luck with your wee one.

Neons not a good idea, You could get some larger tetras. Our first Ghost Knife got to about 30cm and was still growing, he was very placid and didn't eat any fish... but our second Ghost Knife was only maybe 5-6 cm and he would eat anything that could fit in his mouth - a couple baby mollies about 2-3cm they have huge mouths so I made the mistake of the molly not being able to fit in his mouth but I was very wrong . So It does also depend on the fish.

Will do. Its going to be a while before I start due to finding time for Dad to show me how to reseal it. and the cabinet has water damage and a few loose screws but I am going to sand and repaint it. So I will do a before shot after and then when I have it set up in our house. I think also I may wait until we have our new house built before putting fish in so I can just transfer from one tank to another instead of swapping them around and then moving them again in a few months So I have lots of time to prepare and decide what Im going to do. Argh Im like ecstatic

How exciting! It is 300L ish , just needs an external filter and a slow silicone leak fixed. Its so nice on a lovely black stand with cupboards (our last one was just on a metal table) So i can hide all the stuff away. But I want a real make over of the tank, and I want to have a plan of what I want so I can slowly buy things whilst the leak is getting fixed so Im not so poor all at once am going to use a mix of Glacier and Autumn Harvest Gravel (I think) with some large bits of drift wood as the center piece and I think some Amazon Swords and These Lilly Pad things (dont know name) that I currently have in my tank. We have ... 2 Discus (which can either go to my dads tank or we can get more) 2 Syn Decorus 2 Large Pearl Gouramis 3 GBA (possibly 4) they are babies so not always easy to find 6 Golden tiger barbs getting 6 Green barbs also. 1 Albino Rainbow Shark Lots of Platies (which are going to my grandads tank but just depends when I next travel down there) Do you have any cool Ideas of how I can set up my tank - I have a little idea but am open to anything cool and eye catching Also other fish that will go well with what I have. I really love Kribensis if im allowed them. Maybe you could post photos of your tank set up or give me ideas of other cool plants. I do also currently have some anubis, indian fern, and some other fast growing ones that I can put in it to Thanks guys. Its always so exciting redoing everything.
