  1. I never had a problem with my synos eating BGK slime, and they were together for 2 years. But choco catsish should be ok.
  2. DO kuhlis loaches eat snails to? Iwondered why snails never lasted in my tank when my dad has millions.
  3. Well I actually have no idea who his/her mum is - I know its dad he is half red and half white and the female could be one of 4 cause they were all pregnant at the same time in my dads tank. Oh im keeping an eye out for him i'll be so disappointed if he doesnt show up Im such a clutz ha!
  4. Ha thanks guys. Ive never seen an albino platy before so wasn't to sure. However I did drop the breeding net right into the water and now I can't find the wee guy. Hopefully hes found a hiding place and won't get eaten, poor thing. I was looking forward to having an albino platy ha he was so cute.
  5. Hey guys, Can you get albino platys? One of my baby platys has red eyes, hes not fully white - has a black tail white upper body. However he is far to small to get a decent picture. So i thought albino with the red eyes, but wasnt sure if he has to be completely white to be albino?
  6. My Dad also has this problem. He has stopped feeding his fish so regulary now only feeds them every few days and only a small amount, also everynight before bed he scoops out the babies from the top and any big ones he can get from the bottom. He does have clowns that assist with his snail removal also. But maybe just cutting down feeding and scooping some out will gradually help? Also he found that the snails traps didn't work so well but when he did use it he used cucumber, spirulina discs and courgette in it.
  7. Tank is looking very cool. Looks even better in person though. Where did you get your slate from?
  8. Which are best Chain or Skunk? We have clown loaches but they do nothing to our snails. Our snail population is HUGE.
  9. Awww that poor fish. My tank is double that tanks size and I would never even dream of putting and aro in my tank. He doesnt have a smile on his face poor fishy.
  10. In Mairangi Bay, ours is about 6.4 Our tank never gets above 6.4 and I was worried with a couple of the fish we have with that pH but they have had no problems as it is very stable Last time I actually tested the tap water to see was about 3months ago and it was about 6 - 6.4.
  11. Have now got 8 in total saved. And the tank is piled with indian fern so fingers crossed. We get some from the tank and my little net. However Im still a wee bit worried about the tank babies in the indian fern as the SAE's keep swimming through it, I think they can smell prey
  12. Has anyone breed them? If so any tips on how to breed, what plants, tank size, and needs would be great. Am asking on behalf of a friend who would like to start breeding them. Thanks in Advance.
  13. So far I have captured 2 and are all safe in my net. I have seen another 4 but they have disappeared. I have I think 3 pregnant females - So there'll be lots more coming.
  14. We have more babies. Im taking them out of the Dads tank like last time and still putting them into our tank into a Breeding net that I have put Filter wool on the bottom of so the gouramis can't suck these ones through the net. How exciting again. Ha ok hopefully this time they don't disappear and I can get some to grow and be healthy
  15. Ha well it was a bitembaraasing taking photos of all the mud and leaves around their - cause its just been storage for renovations and un wanted doors and windows etc... So Will be taking first photos on wednesday and then progress from then on so of course will keep you all up to date
  16. Have waterblasted and cleaned everything now, so all is looking good just needs to bea sealed and tiled, hopefully it sunny on wednesday as its my day off so can get lots done.
  17. Oh cockatoos are cute. Lol where is bulls? Do they ship ok?
  18. Oh they have heaps of hiding holes. I also was reading through past threads about putting their cave in one corner so fish know to stay away. I have a couple coconut halfs that I will put together somehow in a corner - which hopefully they like as their cave. So you think kribensis should be ok? What else would you recommed? Just for more ideas, I think im set on Kribs but you never know. Im always scared about putting new things in I have never had.
  19. 286L Are the males and females both the brightish colouring? Or are females plainer?
  20. Hey Guys, Just wanting to know What Kribensis are like? What requirments they need? I have just setteled my tank after a rough patch, the current inhabitants are 2 Synodontis Decorus 2 Pearl Gouramis 3 Discus 2 Kuhli Loaches Will also be adding at a later date 2 Tiger Plecos. Or similar. Possibly 2 GBAs Possibly Black Ghost Knife Rainbow Shark Definatly Would Kribensis go with these fish? We have lots of caves for them to choose from. Otherwise do you have any other ideas of something cool and pretty? We have previously had Tiger Barbs Dwarfe Gouramis Honey Gouramis Range of Different Tetras So would like something different to these for a change.
  21. Oh its in the same area as the dog, We do have one big pond but I dont deal with that! Its full of Algae as it was neglected before we moved in so just getting around to making it nice now. ' THe dog is a Weimerana and is petrified of water, we have a pool and she stays well clear of it. and same with the big pond. I think shes scared of her water bucket to So she will not be a problem at all! ha. Shes not much of a hunting dog like shes suppose to be, only for our neighbours cats. But then when it comes to our cat she takes all the abuse he gives her.
  22. In theory, It will actually be fenced / supervised as it is in my art cubby and its fenced within the dogs boundry around the back of the house and when Its fully finished I am getting a gate so she can't eat all of my stuff And then when the gate is not closed I will be there anyways. That is a wee way down the track though. At the moment it is fenced so only household members can get to it as no one dares to come in with the dog
  23. only 40cm? Wow thats not much. I'll keep it in mind thanks. Im using this grout that has been recommended to me and was used on my mums pond they didn't use tiles but slate stuff. Will get photos Before and after and keep you all updated. Im semi not sure if I will do it with the previous place or completely take it out and start from scratch.
  24. Aww they are so cute. My old neighbour used to have frogs and gold fish when I was little with no problems. just becareful when mowing the lawn - if theirs lawn around your pond. Goodluck with them .
  25. Oh kool, If I do decide on lillies can they be grown from cuttings? or can they be replanted easily enough? I think the fountain will have a slow fall not to splashy, just cause the statue I have is an old concrete one I have just Repainted and I dont want to try and drill a hole in it and have it smash, its only just staying together now. Its hard to explain what I have in mind but I would like... (if this makes sense) A big bowl with the statue in the middle and then the water running over the sides of the bowl into the water just to create the water movement.
