  1. Wow congratulations they are really nice fish. I'm going to put my hand up for some if you are successful in raising some offspring
  2. i had no problems. they just seemed to ignore each other, the oscars were much more interested in each other and the angels never pushed it too far. I fed flake food to the angels which the oscars couldn't be bothered eating, so there was no competition there. I had 2 oscars and up to 6 adult angels (and other fish) in a 5' x 2' x 2' tank for 2-3 months
  3. I could get you a 4 inch needle but it wouldnt be 22g (0.7mm diameter). More like 4-5mm diameter  Are you doing it down the throat or through the side? Will you be able to access the bladder once it has deflated? If so could you make a fine trocar and cannula and leave the cannula in until the bladder has deflated?
  4. I like the daffoldi (?). very nice fish and cool photo
  5. I woke up today to see my oscars with some eggs this morning. they are gone now but it looks like they have decided to breed :bounce: This is their first spawn, and they ate the eggs. How long before they will spawn again?
  6. As a kid we had a rabbit on its own for about a year and then one day it had babies lol. It must have been more than friends with a wild rabbit through the cage
  7. If you pull the plug out of the wall without turning it off then the period where there is a poor connection, and a power surge will occur as the electricity bridges the gap. this can be harmful to electrical equipment. that is why switches click when you switch them - they are spring loaded so they are either on or off and the time they spend either connecting or disconnecting (and therefore the time with a poor connection) to the current is minimised - it is fine to switch things on and off but try to avoid pulling the plug out
  8. Twinkles that is beautifully written. My old huntaway is 14 and has the same attitude as Cash did. It's amazing how they can show you the adoration they feel for you just by putting their head in your hand, or leaning against your leg. I'm not a dog person but, even if he is smelly and dirty and his breath can almost make you throw up, there is something special about a wise old boy like that.
  9. My pups were cute, now they're smelly
  10. When they stick on their hips you have to pull the calf down (towards the cows feet) and then twist to the side. The calf just falls out. It's never failed to work for me Cows always give birth to the front half of the calf lying down and when the get to the hips they stand up and turn around. The calfs weight pulls it down and twists it to the side as the cow stands and turns. By copying this when pulling a calf they never stick on their hips. I'm not a fan of calving jacks. I've seen a jack used 3 times and twice the cow got partially paralyzed back legs. I've pulled 50kg+ calves from <400kg heifers with only ropes, it's all technique. I've never used a jack, and I've never failed to get a calf out.
  11. I'm going on monday, if you want anything brought up here let me know at least by 5pm sunday as I will be leaving at 4am
  12. I do in the bush, never knew it had a name though
  13. That and my oscar would have a very expensive lunch
  14. Oh well I guess it can wait until I get my next tank Thanks guys. If you had said I'd get a good year out of it I would probably have got it, but its not worth it if it'll be that big that fast
  15. How long would it take to get to 50cm? a month? 6 months? a year?
  16. Connect a paper clip from each end of a pencil to the socket and the pencil will catch fire
  17. It's this one http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =224338497 Approximately how long would it take to get to 20" if I took decent care of it?
  18. Thats what I'm thinking. I'm just wondering how much I can offer for it, which will depend on how fast it would outgrow my tank, and what sort of price I could get for it once it is too big for me - There can't be that many tanks big enough for one, and those that are, most of them are already full
  19. Yea I went to see it. It is in very good condition, considering
  20. Fair call My tank is way bigger than the one it's in
  21. I've found a silver aro that is about 35cm and about a year old I'm thinking about getting it and putting it in my 5' by 2' by 2' How big is too big for my tank, and how fast will it get there?
  22. I just used the wire. Hardest part was getting it through in the first place
