  1. Could be a powder blue of some sort...? I know someone on here has them and can & will help you I'm sure
  2. After a few weeks when the fry are free swimming you can strip the females or you can move them to a separate tank with the same water until they release them. it will take a few goes but you will get the hang of it. If i was you i wouldn't worry about trying to keep the fry until the females get a bit bigger as you will get more fry then. just let her release in the tank.
  3. Did those peacocks hold their eggs? i never really feed them anything special. they should just do it themselves when they are ready as the females eat when they have a mouth full of eggs or fry anyway
  4. This is what my pembas have been up to this morning and the smaller of the 2 is now the more dominant one.
  5. Sounds like a good idea and could be a handy thing to have for any tank if it does work.
  6. Mostly flake and pellet foods. I occasionally treat them with bloodworms, shrimp, brineshrimp
  7. That sucks All that hard work just to eat them all.
  8. Yea one of my dubs have coloured up and doesn't show spots anymore but the others do and aren't showing their bands, possibly in fear of the dominant one
  9. my biggest pembas will probably be about 7-8cm now with nice colouring already and the smallest are about 4-5cm. dubs are around the 7-8cm mark also. i got mine in June 2009 at 1-2cm. i like watching them grow and their behaviors develop, very interesting. I love my tropheus. they have got to be one of my best fish i have. their yellow and orange band is so bright & awesome when they display their colours. im hoping to get a bigger tank for them when i can get rid of one of my other tank full of fish and the tank. as i need the space on they wall its taking up
  10. I also have pembas and dubs
  11. I've noticed mine did got these marks for a while when i had some and yellows seem to do it every now and then except its usually a brown stripe down the side. they also get quite dark around the face. it usually happened when i had done a tank decor change or moved them to a diff tank or feed them on something diff from what they were normally feed. if i feed them on mainly flakes they would get these marks but when i started to offer them diff foods the marks were gone. so i think i would agree on everyone elses comments in saying it depends on what you feed them
  12. As long as you have lids on your tanks it should be fine, give the top of the tanks a wipe after the spray has settled.
  13. fly screens on the windows and doors
  14. Looks great scrabble, i love seeing pics of peoples backgrounds and diy tank work. inspires me a lot to do something. You did a good job. very natural looking. you should also turn the lights off in the room before you take the photo to reduce the glare on the glass
  15. wooow thats awesome, i didn't know the oil rig ships did that, and now i do Thanks for the great pics
  16. I wish i worked on a salmon farm Cool pic of the blue cod. makes me want to go for a swim.

    Hello

Hey Jacob, this is an awesome place, you will learn lots here. Welcome
  19. I second that  lmao that would be embarrassing but funny
  20. One more fish just isn't quite enough. Even though you don't have the tank room.
  21. I can already see this tank has a lot of potential cant wait to see the plants in there and the monthly pics. Moss looks awesome on branches like that.
  22. si_sphinx doesn't really have any meaning to it at all... si cos my name is Simon and when i first made my hotmail account it was cool to have fancy names for you email address lol (i think i was 12) and sphinx just sounded cool and went with si being same first letter and all and now i just use si_sphinx for all my user names etc cos its something i can remember.
  23. I have insurance on my tanks and filters breaking, falling over, being dropped when moving  etc which im always careful not to as easier to avoid accidents than go through all the crap just to get a tank replaced. but always woundered about the fish, i guess its not possible and its a risk everyone takes keeping expensive or mass amounts of costly fish.
  24. Is it possible to get insurance on fish? say if a heater fails and all your fish die...? or if power goes off and temp drops too low...? or if a tank breaks and they die on your carpet cos your not home. (i'm at work 8am-5pm) I know you can get pet insurance for cats and dogs but is fish covered somehow for any reason at all? Fish are pets too.
