  1. I like to make my female drop them herself as its more natural and hopefully increases the chances of the fry not spitting their eggs too early when they are mature enough to breed
  2. How big is she. I was lucky as mine have spawned at a young age, quite small, and never spat out the eggs. maybe another go at it and she should hopefully hold them the full term. Mine typically hold for 40 days at 25degs or around 30 at 28degs and release free swimming fry. If she has just dropped eggs then it has probably been less than 2 weeks so should be fine to put back in the tank, if your worried about her then feed her up for a week before putting her back in. HTH
  3. lol only 5cm off  you cold also find a second hand desk, table or plant stand and line it with MDF, save you have to completly making one. but im guessing your after something specific that looks like what you want, thus making my comment useless  oh well.
  4. Exactly i just reckon it looks good and want it in my tank.
  5. Ive tried exactly that and the air comes out of the holes, sticking to the side of the airline and expands with more air until it comes off the same size as normal airstones. Fine sponges don't work either
  6. Yea ive herd of the wooden ones too and also heard that they get a fungus type thing that grows on it in fresh water.
  7. Im on the hunt for an aquarium bubbler that produces fine bubbles in a freshwater tank. Ive got normal air stones that have huge bubbles. Ive tried what is called a professional aquarium mist air stone that turned out to be the same as a normal air stone. And ive tried flexiable bubble walls that give off smaller bubbles but still leak big bubbles out of weak points. Im wanting a super fine bubble mist in my tank. like you would sometimes see in a marine aquarium. it is the salt water that makes the bubbles in a marine setup so fine but i obviously cant add that much salt to my tanks Is there any bubblers that produce the super fine mist im after and where can i get one from??? Ceramic airstones?
  8. Looks like hes just hit puberty

  13. none of my females have egg spots, and out of all my males only one has them. Also both males and females have black on their anal fins  i can only tell the difference in some of them when they are holding.
  14. Thats strange, i would of expected her fins to be all closed as well. :-?
  15. Good idea spoon these are my new ideas/brainwaves  im now saving up for an 8 ft tank and will be getting it made as soon as i have made the stand. So this new tank will have a rocky background also but possibly no plants. so i will try go for spoons idea and do the eroded thing and see how it turns out. if not then i can only try try again

  22. My has the same thing but i think it makes the tank look a lot more natural and i have algae grazing cichlids in mine also so i like to have it there for when they need a snack  Only thing is i wish it was a green algae as that would look more natural.
