who here has bred them successfully? I have 2 that have paired up and have spawned a few times but every time they do, the eggs dissapear slowly over a couple of days. Does it take them a while to get it right or is something getting to the eggs when the lights are out? There are also synos in there, could they be eatting them?

Anyone seen this before?

I can only count 6 of the 7 tonight and I can' see the 7th anywhere, either it was eaten by the bigger fish or it is hiding. Upon more observation, their tails are almost triangle in shape. I'm going to catch some bigger bullies in a few weeks

I had a quick look this morning before i went to work and they are still swimming around fine. I will count them tonight and see if all 7 are still alive. They all have slightly forked tales so I guess they are smelt.

Thanks Stella. I will get some photos of them when the tank clears. They ate up blood worms pretty quick so they seem to be pretty happy.

I went and played in a creek yesterday to try and find sum shrimp but failed to find any. BUT, as usual, I came home with something :facepalm: just so I had an excuse to fill an empty tank Inanga I think and some sort of bully. I'm sure someone will be able to confirm what they are for me...? I just about caught a 5cm flounder but it was too quick. I will take a photo of the tank when it clears up.

Just find a free download for a CAD program (autocad etc), plenty out there, way easier and could draw this up in 10mins. I use Archicad, more for 3D work though.

Thanks for that. Mine has a manufactured date of october 2006 and is suposed to last 3 years max so yes, expired a long time ago, probably before i brought it. I wonder how many shops have expired kits still for sale. I'm going to buy more this weekend and check their dates

Do they go old or expire? I have an Aquarium Pharmaceuticals (API) pH test solution kit and I have just tested my main tanks pH, (for the 1st time in ever) for my own curiosity. The pH shows as being around 7.0 and should be above 8.0 I have never worried about pH because I have 40kg of coral rock and 5ltrs of oyster shell grit in my sump, all for buffering the pH in my tank. And my fish are all happy. Tank is 800ltrs Has my test solution gone off? It is going on 2 years old just about and still pretty much full.
