  1. You could put some lettuce in or lawn clippings.
  2. Just need a little more sanding and the cupboard doors hung and its ready for the 1st coat of paint.
  3. I need help and comments on a colour scheme for the stand, I want black because all my furniture is black and dark colours. Does this look ok? I'm not to sure about the white, I think it stands out too much...?
  4. :spop: What fish are going in there?
  5. Cupboard doors done, just need hinges. Does anyone know if the tank will be ok straight on top with 40mm poly between the tank and stand? OR should I put a sheet of ply on the stand first?
  6. You could have a pump fill up a container and when it fills too high it tips over from the weight of the water and splashes into the tank. When it empties, a weight on the bottom of the container then sets it back up straight ready for the next filling.
  7. I would have liked to stain and polyurethane it but I have put screws into the ply so I will fill them and just paint I think. All my furniture is dark greys and blacks so was thinking black on outside and white on inside maybe. Would that look good? I need to get timber moldings for the corner edges to cover the ply joins as well. Unless anyone has any ideas on what would look nice...?
  8. Marine grade carpet, yes would be go for spills, but insulation value??
  9. Wouldn't carpet be a pain to dry out all the time if you keep getting spills? mould could occur underneath? Ive seen a few concrete floor garage fish rooms that hold heat well. Yes it would be better to insulate but it can still work without. What about vinyl with an insulating underlay?
  10. Thanks, Bike is a hardrock. I don't like the red rims but the shop wouldn't change them at no charge for me when I brought it :-?
  11. Its keeping it cycled while its in the garage
  12. the ends are now lined and it has a floor. Tomorrows mission is to attempt to make some cupboard doors... that are straight :roey:
  13. yes sure is http://www.fish-street.com/weipro_mx1014_500w_duel_lcd_heater
  14. FishStreet.com And I got the price wrong, it is actually $61.20NZ
  15. Have just ordered some Poret filter foam from SwissTropicals for my sump. $116NZ to buy and get it to my door. Also I'm going to order a weipro 500w heater with LCD screen and controller. $63US
  16. Back bracing ply and front has been lined. Tomorrow I will add the sides and start the cupboard doors.
  17. Don't sell it, keep it for when you have something to do with it.
  18. I would use polystyrene in the walls and ceiling. My personal preference. Floor you could just leave as concrete. Would get more expensive if you wanted to insulate it. Heating the room will be easier than heating the tanks. Only need one heater that way. But still have heaters in a few tanks for back ups. Drill your tanks and use overflows to a sump, and use sponge filters in each tank to help. Light can just be 4ft fluros on the ceilings. You don't really need to light the tanks unless you have plants etc that need the light. HTH
  19. Where did you get your reg & solinoid from?
  20. I just worked with what I had otherwise I would have done the same
  21. This is funnier http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctJJrBw7e-c&NR=1
  22. I had this sump working on my cichlid tank for over a year working fine with 50+ fish in it. and it was packed full with more than enough media. Afters using a sump I don't think I would ever go back to canisters, I find sumps easier to do maintenance on with out having to pull everything apart. If it work then it works, If it doesn't then I will change it so it does. I will just have to find out the hard way
  23. Exactly, for future marine tank, that is why I have designed it like that. What would you recommend changing for a fresh water planted tank?
