  1. Thanks, where did you read that, can you post a link? I have reed reviews saying some people live by them.
  2. They don't look right. Not for me
  3. http://www.aliexpress.com/product-fm/433980007-ODYSSEA-80-200cm-Aquarium-Fish-Tank-Metal-Halide-light-HQI-Lamp-T5-Actinic-Blue-Bluemoon-LED-wholesalers.html Has anyone tried these before? I need a set of lights that I can use for a planted tank and for a marine conversion in the future.
  4. If people ask about my tank and fish I dumb it down for them, "Thats a yellow fish" lol My partner thought I was a fishy nerd because I knew more about it than her. BUT now she has here own little community tank and every time the filter makes a weird noise or a fish disappears, I get a call, "Hello... Needa Nerd, somethings wrong with the filter so I turned it off, and opened it and water wouldn't stop going everywhere"! haha. Shes a funny one. Ive had to recycle her tank twice for her now. She is slowly learning. But she likes her 'Cuddly kitten' better.
  5. It snowed over night down here and its frozen this morning. Its 10" at my parents house in Manapouri, Fiordland.
  6. It could work, but I don't think clay balls in there would be a good idea. The clay would dirty the water very fast with the water moving past them. The purpose of the plants would be to remove the things that you don't want. So if you need to feed clay balls because they are struggling to grow then they would be of no use to the removal of nitrates/nitrites. Then yes, they would become more of an aesthetics thing rather than a useful thing. hope that makes sense :-?
  7. Does anyone have these fish? Do you keep them in a tank with strong current or low current? Do you see them often or do they hide a lot? What are their growth rates?
  8. I would come work for you if I lived up that way and give you a hand. I miss the country. Ive just bought a house :nilly: and I move in in 3 weeks :happy2: :happy1: I have sold all my cichlids in my big tank, which was a very hard thing to do BUT, it will make the move easier. And I get to do the needed alterations to the sump and add an automatic water change system. I was planning to convert my now empty tank to marine but after going round and seeing another forum members planted tanks.... Ive changed my mined  So keep an eye out for my new set up coming soon, with a lot of Qs im sure, which should involve a lot of plants, wood, discus, tetras, plecos, cories and what ever else will look good in the tank.
  9. You tell him if he doesn't like it then he can sleep on the couch. :sml2:
  10. You could always go the route of buying one of those cheap EPP foam planes from TM...? around the $200 mark I think. They come with everything to get the plane up and flying except for the batteries required for the transmitter. If you crash it you can keep flying. Unless you crash it into something hard, and even then a little bit of hot glue or poly glue will fix it and you will be flying again in no time.
  11. I didn't know there were many others on here that like to fly rc. Electric is definitely the easier way to learn (and cheaper too), a slow flyer to get use to how the model moves in the air and how to control it before moving onto faster electric or glow fueled models. Ive just got 2 EDF units for a new project, wow they can pump out the air, I think they will go a lot faster than most my fueled models. Hobby King is best place to buy anything RC with good feedback on most products from people that have brought them. Agreed, rcgroups is a great source of info on anything you need to know. I recommend a simulator as well, great way to learn before you hit the field and end up crashing before you get to fly. I use Aerofly Pro deluxe. Very nice sim and seems to be quite accurate. Also joining a club or going to a field day and being able to talk to all the experienced pilots can be very helpful too. Sometimes having someone to help show you how to do it is easier than learning by yourself on a sim. Once you get the addictive bug (just like MTS), you will have planes coming out your ears and you will be struggling to find places to keep them all.
  12. Not enough oxygen in the water??? Increase surface agitation and do a water change. What size is your tank and what filtration do you have?
  13. Like mine? http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=44145&hilit=submarine Try eBay if they aren't on TM anymore.
  14. HINT: If anyone knows Macbeth they should get this....?
  15. oyster grit works well, coral rubble etc etc
  16. Does it look like it could be deformed with its beak like mouth? or does it look normal for fish?
  17. E of N and T of F, W of B and T of D
  18. Above and Beyond the Call of Duty?
  19. Also... Planet Earth - Fresh Water, 23min 30 sec in is about the rift lakes Planet Earth - Caves, 23min 55sec in, I think sailfin mollies and a few other community tank fish can be seen.
  20. That one is mush better :slfg: but still easy enough to close.
  21. The page was made in 2005 so unless you still have an old version of IE etc, then it doesn't seem to have the effect of which it was intended.
  22. Firefox 4 I'm using, Firefox 5 is only out in beta version at the moment. I can just close the tab or click 'back' to return to the previous page if I don't open it in a new tab. The page doesn't open as a pop up, it comes up as a new tab. However, my browser doesn't allow pop-ups because of how I have its settings.
  23. I just clicked close and it did. I didn't need to go through them all.
